Something a little fitting for the first day of spring 🌸🐝

I don’t often get the chance (or the time) to enter design competitions, but I managed to sneak in a few hours over the weekend to put together an entry for the Beechworth Honey comp.

The theme was Bees, Flowers & Food... so obviously I was very happy to oblige 😂

We’ve been creating Aussie Christmas together for a few years now, so the challenge is always coming up with something that feels completely different from the year before.

After throwing a few ideas around, we landed on wombats and Chrissy by the Sea was born.

Classical music + A cheeky bin chicken.
Not exactly the pairing you’d expect. 😬

When Brisbane Arts Diary approached me, they wanted a brand that celebrated classical music, theatre and the arts.....but they also wanted it to feel welcoming, approachable and unmistakably Brisbane.
The challenge wasn’t designing an ibis.
It was making sure the ibis didn’t make the brand feel silly.

The answer wasn’t to choose between sophisticated or playful.

It was finding the balance between the two.
A strong brand isn’t built by following the stereotypes of your industry. It’s built by understanding how you want people to feel when they discover you.

In this case, that meant creating a visual identity that feels artistic and credible, while still having enough personality to make people smile.
Because sometimes the most memorable brands are the ones that break expectations.

Can you guess these two iconic Queensland locations? 👀

Unless you work in design, you’ve probably never come across the term “environmental graphics”.

It’s basically a fancy name for graphics and illustrations designed for physical spaces.

Think murals, wall graphics, signage and illustrations that help transform offices, schools, hospitals and other workplaces into spaces that tell a story.

These two are part of a collection of 13 large-scale illustrations I created for the meeting rooms of a Brisbane corporate office.

Sometimes they need a stronger brand around the one they already have.

🌸 That’s exactly what this project was about.

SYDNEY FLORIST • SYDNEY FLOWER DELIVERY • FIVE GENERATIONS 💐 already had a strong, recognisable logo. My role wasn’t to reinvent it… it was to build a complete visual identity around it, giving the business a consistent look and feel across every customer touchpoint.

From social media and email marketing to custom icons, illustrations and patterns, every piece was designed to make their marketing easier, more consistent and instantly recognisable.
