Nerdyness Helping small businesses be found, considered and chosen by more of their ideal customers. Hi, I'm Rose from Nerdyness.

We help small businesses to be found, considered and CHOSEN by more of their ideal clients. This helps them increase their revenue, which enables them to more fully enjoy their business and the flexibility and lifestyle they intended it to provide for them, to live the life of their dreams. That’s why we start or buy a business in the first place isn’t it? And that’s what we’re about, bringing in

more clients. We do this by helping transition from an existing website that's not generating the results you need (because it’s either old/outdated/not mobile/tablet friendly or they just don’t know why), to a site that you know showcases why your product/service is awesome and your potential customers should totally contact you. Imagine: finally proud to share your website to the universe, shout if from the social media platforms you haunt, and link the heck out of it on your e-mail signature and more! We’re also a great fit for startups who need to get an effective online presence so that they hit the ground running and attract their ideal customers sooner, to get the cashflow happening. We know the pitfalls of small businesses starting out, we used to train in Small Business Management and Sales and Marketing, so if ever you’ve wanted to hit the ground running from the get-go, then we can totally make that happen, supporting you along the way. So, if you’re looking for a personal approach, someone to guide you and work with you towards increased effectiveness, not a faceless out of the box provider, then Rose from Nerdyness could be the help you need. Contact Rose now for a free initial consultation (warning, you may have to put the kettle on!).

Security is necessary, but occasionally it provides a brilliant moment of entertainment.

Yesterday I encountered a reCAPTCHA verification that showed a picture of a standard microwave. It asked me to click on the objects that could safely be put inside it. Alongside the usual culprits like a cup of tea and a loaf of bread, the options seriously included an excavator and a tractor.

It certainly makes a change from identifying traffic lights, crosswalks and motorbikes. More importantly, it gave me a good laugh during a busy workday. As small business owners, we are often told to think big and scale our operations, but I think attempting to fit an agricultural tractor into a kitchen appliance might be taking that advice a step too far.

That said, his is a friendly reminder that reCAPTCHA fields for logging into sites are very handy to have. If you have got an important system, consider whether you have got the most up-to-date version and not just the general click here to verify you are not a robot. Security is so important these days.

To finish on a lighter note, what is the most intriguing security prompt you've come across lately?

I want to give a shout-out to the Lions Club of Mooloolaba.

These volunteers do an incredible amount of work behind the scenes, raising funds and supporting people right here in our local community, as well as contributing to important causes across Australia and around the world through Lions International.

One of their biggest fundraisers is the Fisherman's Road Markets, and if you haven't been before, it's definitely worth checking out. You'll find a huge variety of stalls, great local businesses, fresh produce, food vendors, crafts, gifts, and plenty more.

The best part is that when you support the markets, you're also helping support the amazing work the Lions Club does. The revenue generated goes back into community projects and charitable initiatives that make a real difference.

I came across a story this week about a 102-year-old man still helping people with their computers… and honestly, I love everything about it.

Dean Simes only got his first computer this century, and now he’s become the go-to person in his community for tech support, helping others understand something that many still find overwhelming.

There’s something really powerful in that.

Not just the longevity… but the mindset.

A genuine curiosity to keep learning.
A willingness to stay relevant.
And a desire to help others, person to person, not just point them to a help article and move on.

That’s the kind of approach I admire.

It’s also exactly why I love what I do.

Coaching business owners to streamline their processes, systemise the moving parts, and actually use the tools available to them properly… not just have them sitting there unused or half set up, presuming someone in the business is using things efficiently and with ease.

Because when someone understands how to use their systems well, everything changes.
Less overwhelm. More clarity. Better results.

And ideally, with a bit of fun along the way too.

I hope I’m still learning, adapting and sharing what I know well into my later years.

Because if a 102-year-old can stay curious, helpful and across technology…

We’ve really got no excuse. (Well I guess I'm off to watch another AI tutorial to stay relevant! Good one Dean, you're amazing)

How many times have we heard of the dire need of support for those caring for loved ones during vital health journeys and the lack of resources to do it.

And yet often there is help available, just a lack of knowing where to look or who has capacity.

A wonderful provider in this space is the lovely Lisa Kimmett who is the founder of The Carers Project.
They supports carers, families and loved ones navigating ageing, the care system, dementia, and chronic health journeys with emotional support, guidance, and education.

If someone in your world could benefit from this kind of support, a carer, family or loved one who's feeling overwhelmed, please share this with them. Lisa has the capacity, the passion and the beautiful nature and experience to make such a difference.
