Last week they made the standards “accessible” and while not having to pay is great… not being able to read them regardless is not great!

Although we can’t make Tools™️ completely free (yet) we know it’s the only truly accessible way for you to get the information you need.

Note: the founder Jerry Tyrrell built this app when no-one else would fund his idea. He spent his own money at 65 years old to try and give the industry what it wants and needs. Support those who are actually supporting you. One day we hope it can be free… that we have so many user that they will subsidize this instead of the unreadable version… until then get behind us so that they can see this is the way you want it delivered.

Careful location of charging points is vital. These are now a ‘MUST have’ - not some ‘do we really need these?’ Properly designed location need very little directional signage - Jerry’s WAYfinding Rule (which will eventually be a Tool™ too) is ‘good design needs minimal signage - just logic & good lighting’.
There are lot’s technical dimensions & wiring rules. However, most of the issues relate to installation & minimising long term maintenance:

• use durable, UV resistant signage
use fully galvanised bollards / posts with integrated coatings
• locate them so a Ute cannot push them over
use 20mm x 140mm galvanised dynabolts
purchase known brands - the solar industry is still recovering from decades of Inverter troubles

And here’s why Tools™ provides CPD. You need to know a lot more about construction than just EV Rules. Please seek advice regarding the fire risk - you will need an Engineer’s Design for an installation in a car park or basement:

• know the accessible crossfall rules
• falls to drainage from EVERYWHERE
• doweled joints in concrete / saw cuts

Despite some silly criticism, the changes contain specific ‘fit for purpose’ craft most of us are already doing - so let’s get behind them!

The summary of changes are:

External Waterproofing
• 1 : 80 slope to a functioning drain
minimum hob height, joints located at high points etc

Access
• Ramp slip resistance is only required for accessible areas
• Wayfinding signage to identify Stairs, Floor Levels & SOU number
• Stair re-entry clarified for buildings over 25m

Fire
• Sprinklers required when more than 40 cars spaces / 1 car stacker (incl. Open Deck Parking)
• Concessions removed for Open Deck Parking

Services
• 100% PV coverage where practical
• Increased toilets for 9B Auditoriums / Theatres

Comfort
• Changes to permeance & drainage within walls / cladding
