"A pleasure to work with. In addition to providing effective and efficient technical support, they are excellent communicators, always adapting their style to suit the audience, which at times is necessary to understand complex digital systems and terminology. Sally and Manon are patient, quick to respond & always have a solution to offer. I highly recommend engaging with Creative Baguette." "My experience working with CB has been an absolute joy. I’ve worked with other companies in the past that were slow, outdated in their approach, and made things confusing. But Sally and Manon are a breath of fresh air. They are professional, fun, honest, and absolute powerhouses with everything they do."

Your Google Business Profile is free, and usually beats your website.

For anything with "near me" in it, the map box sits above the normal results. Three businesses get in. Everyone else is below the fold, where most people never go.

Getting in isn't clever. It's the boring stuff done properly: every field filled in, the right categories, real photos, opening hours that are actually correct, and reviews that keep arriving rather than arriving all at once two years ago.

It costs nothing and most businesses have never finished setting it up.

If you only do one thing for your visibility this month, do that instead of anything on your website.

Quick one, since Scams Awareness Week just wrapped up.

Australians lost $2.18 billion to scams last year. The fastest-growing type for businesses is the fake invoice: an email that looks like it's from a supplier, with "updated" bank details. The ACCC's example this year was a $20,000 deposit paid to a link that replaced a builder's real one. Nobody did anything silly. The email just looked right.

The part that surprises people: for most small businesses, anyone can send an email from your actual address, and your customer's inbox can't tell. We checked 19 domains this morning. One was locked.

It's a settings job, not a tech project. Want to know if yours is open? Send us your website and we'll check it for free.

No padlock means the browser says Not Secure.

Not in small print. In the address bar, before anyone has read a single word about your business. Some browsers now put up a full warning page instead and make people click through it.

The fix is a certificate, it's usually free, and most decent hosting turns it on with a switch. It's the cheapest trust you will ever buy.

Go and look at your own site right now. If there's no padlock next to the address, that's the first thing to sort, ahead of anything to do with design.

Seven years is a long time for a website to stand still.

N.'s counselling practice kept evolving. The site stayed exactly where it started, so every new visitor met a version of her work that no longer existed.

She answered a set of questions by voice message. We wrote the copy from that and designed around it together, so the site reads as her and not as a template with her name on it. Her own reference photos became a portrait style, and a video.

The booking system stayed connected the whole way through, and the existing SEO carried over instead of resetting to zero. That part is invisible, and it's the part that would have hurt.

AI recommends businesses from listicles, not from your website.

We went looking. Asked the AI assistants people actually use to recommend a web agency, then traced where every recommendation came from.

Not one came from an agency's own site. Every single one was pulled from a third-party roundup. The "best web designers in Sydney" type article that somebody else wrote.

Which is an uncomfortable thing to learn when you've spent years making your own website good.

It doesn't mean your site stops mattering. It's still what people check once they have your name. But if you want to be in the answer when someone asks an AI who to hire, being brilliant on your own website isn't the lever. Being on other people's pages is.

Worth knowing before you spend another weekend on your homepage.

"The process was smooth and the results have been fantastic."

Evolve Chiropractic had two problems that looked like one. The site didn't say clearly what the practice did or how to book. And behind it, onboarding every new client was manual and repetitive, eating time that should have gone to patients.

So the refresh handled both. New photography, new colour palette, a simple clear answer to what do you do and how do I start. Then client forms built into an automated onboarding flow, so new patients get set up without anyone chasing details.

They were worried the new system would be complicated to run. It turned out to be one less thing to manage rather than one more.

More clients in, less admin per client.

A .com.au needs an Australian presence, not just money.

You can't simply buy one. auDA requires the registrant to have a genuine Australian presence: an ABN, an ACN, an ARBN, Australian citizenship or permanent residency, or a matching Australian trade mark.

And the name still has to connect to your business. It can be your business or personal name, an acronym of it, or a product or service you actually offer. It can't be arbitrary. That rule survived the 2021 licensing changes.

Which is why .com.au quietly does something a .com can't. Someone with an Australian presence stood behind it, and somebody checked.

Most people pick a domain in about four seconds and never think about it again. But if you sell to Australians, the .com.au is doing a small amount of trust work on every single visit, for about twenty dollars a year.

Not a reason to rebuild anything. Just a reason to own it, even if you keep using the other one.

Three languages, one week, and a launch date that wasn't moving.

Seela is a life, business and music coaching venture led by an Olympian, with an audience across Italian, English and German. The website was almost finished. Almost.

No room to start over, just enough time to finish it properly. So we adapted our usual tools so they could see changes as they happened and advise on copy and placement in real time, rather than waiting a day per round of revisions.

Content formatted and finished across all three languages, ready for an international audience on day one.

Then three brochures, one per language, each tailored to the culture it was speaking to. Not translated. Tailored.

Not every patient review is banned. Only the clinical ones.

Ahpra's rule is narrower than most practitioners think. A testimonial, in their words, is a positive statement about the clinical aspects of a regulated health service. That is what you can't use in advertising.

What you can use: comments about your reception staff, your communication style, the rooms, the parking, how easy booking was. Ahpra says it plainly, comments about customer service or communication style with no reference to clinical aspects are not testimonials.

So the line isn't "no reviews". It's "nothing about symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, outcomes or clinical skill".

Unsolicited Google reviews are a separate question again. They exist whether you like it or not. What matters is whether you then use them in your own advertising.

Registered practitioners only. Counsellors and psychotherapists sit outside the scheme.

A good firm behind an outdated website.

ADX Accountants didn't need a rebrand. They needed the site to catch up with the firm, and to start attracting the clients they actually wanted rather than whoever happened to land there.

So we rebuilt the design to feel current and specific, aimed at the kind of work they want more of. Not the generic accounting-firm look that makes every practice interchangeable.

Then we designed a brochure to match, so what they hand someone across a table and what they send someone online look like the same business.

Working together since 2022. That's the part worth saying. Not a project handed over and forgotten.
