Modern threats target identities, not just devices. A phishing wave is currently hitting Australian institutions by compromising genuine Microsoft 365 accounts and sending malicious OneDrive links to their contacts. Because these emails come from trusted people, it spreads quickly.

How to Protect Yourself
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/2FA): It remains your best defense against stolen passwords.

Pause and Verify: Before clicking a link, call or text the sender directly. Never reply to the suspicious email thread.

Audit the URL: Always check the address bar for a genuine Microsoft domain before entering your credentials.

If You’ve Already Clicked
Immediately change your password, force sign-out from all devices, and check your inbox forwarding rules for hidden filters created by attackers.

The Role of ITDR
Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) is an important tool to fight these types of attacks. It monitors for "impossible travel," offshore logins, and shadow admin accounts that human eyes might miss.

The bottom line: Always stay vigilent - a trusted sender does not always mean a trusted link.

While Kaveh and I are technically competitors, the conversation quickly became about shared direction. We are completely aligned on the things that matter most: innovation, agility, customer focus, and building progressive technologies that genuinely enable users in the field.
