👏🏻 The top article from our April newsletter was a randomised controlled trial evaluating an online parent‑training program paired with structured home practice for children with speech sound disorder (SSD).

✨ Compared two interventions:
• A business-as-usual (twice‑weekly telepractice)
• Hybrid parent‑training & home practice (once-weekly telepractice)
✨ Both groups showed significant gains in speech sound accuracy
✨ Improvements were maintained at 2‑month follow‑up
✨ No significant differences between groups, suggesting the hybrid model may be a viable alternative to high‑frequency therapy
✨ All intervention used a Speech Motor Chaining approach
⚠️ Main limitation: The small sample size (n=22) and single‑word outcome measure limit generalisability to broader populations and connected speech.

This study highlights how parent training & structured home practice may expand access when clinician time is limited, while also offering greater flexibility and accessibility for families.
