At Taggle we love a collaboration, especially when it benefits our customers and helps deliver water meter data in a cost effective way.

The below article published in Inside Water Magazine details our partnership with Myriota, utilising their direct-to-satellite connectivity to collect water meter data from outlying properties within a council or water utilities network.

This collaboration enables us to deliver data from every water meter to identify leaks and water losses, improve network management and reduce WHS incidents associated with manual reads in remote areas.

Read more below to learn how satellite connectivity can benefit your digital water meter project.

Learn how Taggle and Myriota are enhancing water management with satellite data collection to connect even the most remote properties.

When examining a Smart Water Metering (SWM) project, the initial focus is often the smart meter, communications and meter management software. However, we have found long-term project and business success is driven by other considerations.

Sure, within a SWM project the meter metrology, battery life, telemetry and ultimately the data delivery by the Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS) are all important. But if we broaden the view and examine the meter insights and implications on business processes, a range of new perspectives are revealed.

Find out more in the article below

Cassowary Coast Regional Council has now launched their customer portal! As part of their Smart Water Meter project roll out, the CCRC Water Portal will provide further information to residents who have a smart meter installed on their property and assist in identifying hidden water leaks early, to minimise water wastage and help residents track and manage their water use.

Smart Water Meters record your water use on an hourly basis and transmits this data to Cassowary Coast Regional Council. This data is now accessible to eligible customers via the CCRC Water Portal and gives a more detailed understanding of water usage patterns and helps identify any changes to water use.

To view your water consumption visit CCRC Water Portal and register your details. Once registered, your account may take up to two business days to become active. Once active, residents can:
• detect potential leaks early by registering in the online portal and setting up leak alerts;
• develop strategies to reduce their water usage; and
• check their water consumption hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

Smart Water Meters enable Council to:
• respond more effectively to water consumption enquiries; and
• identify peak and off-peak water usage times and assist with managing pumping and infrastructure to reduce costs when less water is required.

Goldenfields Water has turned into waterfields! We hope everyone has managed to stay safe with those crazy water levels.

It appears that there is a Taggle receiver on site by the antenna, after checking our system we can report that all 39 Goldenfields receivers are up and running just fine.

As for the smart meters themselves, those that are underwater are still working away and their signals will be picked up again when the water subsides. Pictured below is one device that has managed to keep its head above water so is being heard just fine.

We hope water supplies that have been impacted will be up and running again soon. If you live in Goldenfields we suggest checking your customer portal incase you have a significant leak to help minimise any wastage while supplies are critical.

Hoping you have a quick recovery!

Southern Downs Regional Council residents are already benefiting as installation reaches halfway!

In one example, a smart meter installed on 26 October immediately started recording very high usage of approximately 16L/min (24kL/day) which is roughly equivalent to two water efficient showers running continuously.

Upon investigation, officers found that a hidden leak was discharging water behind a wall cavity on the resident’s property. The resident was able to take immediate action by calling a plumber and turning the water off at the meter in order to reduce further damage.

When asked how he felt about the leak detection, resident John Torresan said he was relieved the leak was found and thanked Council for delivering this project as part of the long-term water security strategy for the region.

ā€œI am truly grateful that this technology has resulted in a leak being detected. Without the smart water meter, we would never have known that we were losing so much water and that damage was being done to the house behind the wall,ā€ Mr Torresan said.

We have reached the halfway mark with 1340 households now fitted with smart water meters in Stanthorpe!

The new meters have many benefits including the ability to detect any unusual water usage patterns that might indicate a water leak at a property.

During the initial phase, Council will contact you if a leak has been identified at your property. As the project progresses, residents will be given direct access to this feature, along with the ability to view their personal usage information daily through an online portal.
