Half of Australian business owners admit they're winging their tech strategy.
Not in a "we're agile and adaptable" way. More of a "please don't ask me what we're actually running" situation.
Most small businesses don't have a tech strategy. They have a pile of things that got bought when something broke, or when a salesperson called at the right moment. Nobody sat down and planned it. It just... grew.
The same survey found 69% of SMBs had real financial losses from unreliable tech last year. Average hit: $3,794. Annoying money. Not catastrophic, but the kind you notice.
The gap between winging it and having a plan isn't as dramatic as it sounds. You don't need a 40-page document. You just need to know what you've got, why you've got it, and whether it's actually doing what you think.
Most people find the answer to that last one a bit surprising.
Are you winging it?
