Mango Computer Tuition

Mango Computer Tuition Mango Computer Tuition IT offers a wide range of technical services to cater to all kinds of technol The RAM upgrade was 8MB of EDO memory! We want to trust us.

I got my start in technical services in 1998 when I first upgraded the RAM in an old beast my cousin built me. After that it was the CD-ROM drive, then the Hard Disk Drive, and then it was on. I spent the next 2 years finishing off my first tour with the United States Coast Guard and left the service in 2000. In 2000 in was hired by CompUSA for the sales floor but was quickly picked OFF the sales

floor by the Technical Services manager at the time, Sashil. Sashil became a great friend and mentor and groomed me for the manager position following his promotion to the regional team. I learned a great deal while working in the tech shop, first as a technician, and later as the technical services manager. Not only did I hone my technical expertise, but more importantly, I learned the importance of working with people from all walks of life. I learned that in repairing a person’s personal computer, you are not only fixing broken parts. PCs have become an important part of today’s technologically advanced society. We’ve become very attached to our PCs, and losing one to malfunction, viruses or inadvertent damage can be a significant event. I left CompUSA in 2002 to return to the Coast Guard. The tragedy of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 was still fresh in the minds of people around the world. I felt as though I was helpless to do my part unless I re-enlisted. I served another 6 years in the Coast Guard as a federal on scene coordinator for pollution cases on the California Coast, a facility inspector, and coxswain at an anti-terrorism unit out of San Diego, California. At the end of this tour, I felt it was time to come home. I left active duty in the Coast Guard at the end of 2008 and returned home to Queensland, Australia where I would continue my work with personal computing and technology. I signed on to help my Dad, Larry Walker, with his successful little Tuition and Repair business, Mango Computer Tuition. At Mango our focus has been, and will always be the customer. We have the most loyal customer’s around, and we reward that loyalty with absolute dedication to providing the best and most reliable service possible. Whether you need a new PC custom-built, your home network setup, or some tuition for your PC, Mac, or portable devices; we've got you covered. I don’t keep normal hours, but I’m available 24/7. I learned from my time in the military that I truly enjoy odd hours and emergencies. This is not to say that you can’t see me at a more “normal” time. Mango Computer Tuition is here for the long haul. If you have a technological need, we've got a solution for you, and we’re not in it to fleece you. Our prices are very competitive, and we honour our freely quote prices. We will earn that trust.

Security Tip #0001

Protect Against Social Hacking

Hacking isn’t what it was 20 years ago. These days hacking is all for money. The most effective and lucrative way to succeed in it is through social engineering.

Hackers DO NOT have the technical skills they once did, and they cannot bypass any decent security software. This is why they will seek to trick you into allowing them access to your computers.

In order to prevent this, remember these simple rules:

1) Your service providers WILL NOT request access to your computers or files unless it is a support request, initiated by you. Any call from your telephone, internet, power, water company, etc. requesting access to your PC or Mac should be ignored.

2) No international coalition of law enforcement officials will ever call your for your assistance in tracking hackers or moving money.

3) None of the above agencies or organizations care enough about you or your daily activities to call you and warn you of a virus or malware infection on your computer or Mac. Any such calls should again be dealt with by hanging up.

Avoid opening links in emails and don’t open attachments unless you know the sender, and you’re expecting the attachments. If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me via messenger, email, SMS or phone, and I’ll help you through it.

With the right home office setup, you can work very comfortably, and quite effectively from home, and Mango Computer Tuition & Repair can help set you up properly.

Here are 5 things you can do to get your home office up and running so you can be effective away from the office.

1. You need a fast, and reliable dual-monitor computer setup an up to date operating system (Windows 10 for the PC, and Catalina for Mac.)

2. Your computer needs to be secured from outside malware and virus threats with a good security suite.

3. You need to have a backup system (preferably an automatic one) in place to protect your sensitive documents.

4. You need the right office productivity software to create and edit work documents and send and receive email. Most of you will be aware of the Office 365 suite, which includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and others. There are also some very good free applications that can do the same thing, such as LibreOffice.

5. Your computer should be set up with individual accounts and cleaned up so that distractions will be at a minimum, and you can get your work done fast.

If you think you may be coming home to do your work away from the office, give us a call today and we’ll get you set up nicely, leaving you with the peace of mind that comes from knowing the local professional has your back.

Do you really need that extended warranty? It's gold to a retailer, and salespeople are enticed to sell them, particularly with consumer electronics like televisions, tablets, and PC's. The truth of the matter is that in Australia, our Consumer Law will in most cases cover your purchase for a VERY reasonable period after the sale.

MANY retailers have attempted to mislead consumers, even outright argue, quite unwittingly, that you have no rights beyond the manufacturer's (usually one year) or extended warranty (normally another 2 years). The article below helps to shine the light on some very handy protections that the law has for us in Australia :)

Be careful, be very careful. Especially if you are over 40. I just had a call from John Travolta. Seems he is working for the technical department of windows, and has lost his Yank accent. Since it is, John Travolta you could really be tempted😂

NBN (National Broadband Network) SCAM. The thieves are now using letters sent via Aussie Post, to rob money from you. You might be scammed via your regular mail, a phone call or even a flyer left in your mailbox.
The enticement is access to a good price on high speed broadband.

Here are some steps to protect yourself

If someone claiming to work for nbn has contacted you trying to sell you an internet or phone service and you’re in doubt, ask for their details, hang up and call your retail service provider to check if they’re legitimate.
• Do not share your bank or personal details with an unsolicited caller or with those who door knock claiming to be from nbn trying to sell you an nbn™ service or seek payment for related services.
• Never give an unsolicited caller remote access to your computer via the installation of programs such as Team Viewer.
• nbn does not call you with automated assistance to advise you will be disconnected – we suggest you hang up the phone.
• nbn is a ‘wholesaler’ – you will need to purchase an nbn™ powered plan through a phone or internet provider. We only accept direct payment from the public in certain circumstances e.g. switching technologies at your premises.
