humans are releasing hit songs:
'SHINE BRIGHT' by ANA calls back to artist Miquela's distinct, poppy style in her 2019 'Money' music video.
ANA, though, just set a new bar for humanoid artists:
SHINE BRIGHT pairs a simple story with timely stylistic references, wrapped in premium visuals augmented by a chart-worthy beat.
The quality and perspective put on display come as no surprise knowing that ANA was made by the same company famous for making PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
Should ANA continue to release new music, one may expect to see her multiply her 4.5M plays into something greater...
Stream counts aside, she will still need a regularly-engaged community, which of course requires her to develop a regular, engaging online presence if she wants to build fandom.
The music industry has become so saturated that most artists now depend on their ability to chase or define, trends on fast-growing, video-centric tech platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Roblox, Fortnite, Show Streaming) to have a chance at standing out.
Modern breakout artists know how to position their tracks as the backdrop to more immersive, retention-driving online experiences while threading a fandom along the way.
As the collective human experience starts to look more intelligent, logical, and fractal, standing out will require humans to convey more emotion in their works.
Additionally, the collective offline human experience will start to feel more , logical, and fractal as well, as humans identify with, internalize, and embody what happens online (think: kids raised with iPads, , YouTube, etc becoming adults) as a result of increased screen time and the virtualization-of-everything.
A strange new world....!!!
Thoughts on virtual human music artists? What medium do you think artists and labels should prioritize to break new artists and songs? How would you feel if intelligence created widely-loved art? What would that reveal about the human experience?
