CyberPower Commits to Comply with RoHS / WEEE Directive
Most areas of the world are gearing up to enforce new environmental regulations that govern the manufacture and disposal of products that include all electronic components. First up is Europe. The European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive took effect in August of 2005, and the Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) will be enforced starting in July 1st, 2006. RoHS has caused reverberations around the world. CyberPower has established the branch office in Netherlands & Russia and has concentrated on EU market for many years. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Directive was passed into law by the European Union (E.U.). It affects manufacturers, sellers, distributors and recyclers of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chrome, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE). The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) apply to companies that manufacture, sell, distribute, recycle or treat electrical and electronic equipment and to consumers in the E.U. It covers all household appliances, IT equipment, radio and audio equipment, electrical tools and telecommunications equipment. The Directive aims to reduce the waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment and to improve the environmental performance of all those involved in the life cycle of these products. CyberPower is dedicated to maintaining a safe and clean environment, but our efforts are not just limited to the bare product. We have also taken great care to ensure the product box, all types of packing material, plastic box handles, ink, and all other material used to process and ship our products, meets the RoHS guidelines.
