We're hiring at Dockflow: three roles in our Antwerp office.

• Customer Success & Support Specialist: the first voice our users hear. Chat, email and phone, tickets in HubSpot and Jira, hands-on onboardings.
• Account Executive: the full sales cycle, discovery to signature, with pilots on the prospect's live shipments.
• ML / Data Engineer: models on vessel, terminal and IoT data that flag delays before customers feel them.

Last year $21 billion worth of cargo moved through our platform, for 15,000 companies. The team behind that is still small.

What matters more than a polished CV: curiosity, honesty, and keeping your head when everything pings at once. Logistics background is a plus, not a requirement.

All roles and apply forms: https://dockflow.com/careers/

Know someone who'd fit? Tag them, or send them our way.

The freight TMS you're paying for was architected in 2005. The platform replacing it ships features every week.

That gap didn't exist three years ago. AI coding tools have collapsed the time between "we should build this" and "it's in production" for vendors who already understood the domain. Legacy TMS providers are still on quarterly release cycles. AI-native platforms are shipping on Tuesdays.

The bigger story isn't AI making developers faster. It's what happens when a team that deeply understands freight ships with AI in the loop. Carrier integrations. ETA training data. Port feeds. Customs logic. The compound effect is brutal for anyone competing on a 2010 release cadence.

The freight software market is splitting in two. Specialized AI-native platforms compounding advantages every quarter on one side. Legacy TMS bolting AI features onto architecture that predates the iPhone on the other. Same vocabulary, different velocity.

For forwarders, the practical question isn't "should we use AI." It's "which side are our current vendors on."

The Strait of Hormuz is closed. Your client's cargo is stranded somewhere in the Gulf. The invoice isn't going to wait for the news to settle.

Here's the four-part message that keeps the client. And the four-part message most forwarders skip.

1. What's happening. Two sentences. No panic, just facts.

2. Which of their specific shipments are affected, with booking references. Not "we'll get back to you."

3. The revised plan. Concrete routing. A named transshipment hub. A new ETA.

4. The cost change. War risk surcharge as its own line item. Not rounded into the freight total.

The forwarder who sends this in the first 24 hours keeps the relationship. The one who waits for the client to call loses it at contract renewal.

How are you communicating with clients this week?

War risk insurance covering vessels and cargo through Hormuz? Gone.

Insurers are pulling coverage, and the cargo stuck in the strait has no safety net.

In this clip from our latest podcast episode, we break down what this means for freight forwarders caught in the middle: no insurance, no clarity, no easy exit.

The US Supreme Court just made history by striking down the baseline tariff program, but for global trade, the "economic reality" remains a volatile climb.

The lesson? The winners of 2026 won't be the ones waiting for the dust to settle.
They’ll be the ones who solve for uncertainty itself.

Ships are burning fuel to... wait.

Rotterdam saw 10% fewer ships in 2024. Wait times should have dropped. Instead, they increased 30%.
The problem isn't capacity, it's coordination.

Here's why 'Hurry Up and Wait' is maritime's most expensive bad habit. Our recent blog breaks down how we, the maritime logistics community, can and should solve this issue: https://lnkd.in/eu35dBBX

Container shipping rates have dropped for four straight weeks, and the usual pre-Lunar New Year cargo rush never happened…
Here's what's actually happening in the market:

Carriers are publishing rate quotes of $2,050-$2,100 for West Coast shipments, but actual deals are closing around $1,700. For East Coast routes, quotes sit at $2,800 while real transactions happen at $2,400-$2,500.

Carriers announce rate increases, but they fall apart within days as everyone fights for volume.

The reason? Too many ships, not enough cargo.

What does this mean for your business?

When rates are falling and everyone's quoting similar prices, you can't compete on price alone anymore. The winners in soft markets are the companies that run tighter operations.
And, visibility makes the difference!

Real-time tracking catches delays before they turn into demurrage charges. Clear data helps spot when carriers adjust capacity so you can move fast.

And while shipping costs drop, regulatory costs keep climbing… accurate emissions reporting based on real routes is becoming table stakes.

Rates will always go up and down. What matters is how quickly you can adapt when they do.

In markets like these, operational transparency is what separates profitable shipments from costly surprises.
