The theater is a space governed by codes and conventions. When the Théâtre de Namur approached us to work on their overall yearly communication, we couldn’t help but notice some rules were ready to be broken. Plays are traditionally announced with an onstage photo and the play’s title. We decided to reinject lived experience, desire, and a sense of interrogation into the theater’s communicational approach, and to do so with the power of words. In tight collaboration with copywriters Place Publique, we constructed a copy-centric and colorful graphic system destined to spark a relationship with the general public and seasoned theater-goers alike.

In the wake of the Covid pandemic, as summer 2021 drew to a close, Théâtre de Namur launched an open-air festival to reignite joy, togetherness, and shared experiences after challenging times. Featuring slam poetry, plays, dance, and concerts, the festival unfolded in public spaces, uniting generations with a program for kids and adults. Its name, doux mois d’août—“mild month of August”—alludes to balmy weather and gentle renewal.

Guided by Virginie Demilier’s vision, we crafted a vibrant visual identity using cut-out floral motifs inspired by Warhol and Matisse, creating a dynamic campaign celebrating rebirth, resilience, and positivity.

In 2022, we were commissioned to design the layout and manage the production of “Les Perles”, a collection of humorous and surreal anecdotes gathered by Eveline Beautemps, receptionist at IHECS. Our goal was to create a small, refined volume reminiscent of a “precious pearl.” The publication features high-quality paper, embossed pearlescent ink for the cover illustration and title, and a minimal, poetic layout that gives each anecdote its own page. This design invites readers to open the book at random and discover a nugget of humour or absurdity. The final result is a thoughtful, elegant publication reflecting the charm and wit of its content.

“Be European, Be Brussels” is the campaign promoting Brussels as a vibrant hub of culture, heritage, and diversity. Commissioned

to design a series of illustrations, we were tasked with representing the city's wide array of activities—from cinema and sports to tourist attractions and museums—while appealing to a broad audience and reflecting its multicultural spirit.

Our illustrations are colorful and dynamic, with playful outlines, a joyful tone, and folkloric influences. Using flat colors and touches of surrealism, we captured the essence of "Belgianness," avoiding clichés. Iconic references to Magritte, national foods, and the Belgian flag are subtly woven into the visuals.

The campaign is currently visible on posters, banners, and print ads across the city.

Inspired by Sophie Daxhelet’s “Une girafe sur le toit du monde” (A Giraffe on the Roof of the World), the French Language Department of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles collaborated with a philologist and educational staff to create “Viens écouter le monde” (Let’s Listen to the World), a tool introducing children to linguistic diversity.

Exploring ten languages—Albanian, Arabic, Kinyarwanda, Lingala, Malinke, Mandarin, Pashto, Russian, Tigrinya, and Turkish— the handbook helps pupils discover new perspectives on communication and develop foreign language skills. It promotes interculturality and values pupils’ home languages.

We designed the teaching pack to balance practicality and fun, including a travel diary, teaching guide, and interactive card game. Sophie Daxhelet’s lively giraffe illustrations encourage exploration and learning.

ékla, the Wallonian Performing Arts Centre for Children and Young People hosts the Turbulences festival every three years, showcasing their dedication to blending education with the arts. In 2021, Piknik was commissioned to create the festival’s visual identity, incorporating illustrations by Catherine Pineur and Émile Jadoul. The goal was to design a campaign that sparked curiosity and appealed to young audiences, schools, and families. Our playful, dynamic design featured a responsive font, a lively logo, and vibrant colors while maintaining readability across all media. The campaign’s success led ékla to adopt the identity for future editions of Turbulences.
