“Step to the Line” is part of the selection of MIT Open Documentary Lab!

This 360° documentary directed by Ricardo Laganaro and produced by Oculus aims to provoke a shift in the viewer’s eye about prisoners, the prison system, and themselves by showing the common humanity, differing realities, and racial biases experienced by the inmates and volunteers.

“Notes on Blindness” is part of the selection of the MIT Open Documentary Lab

This immersive award-winning film was directed by Arnaud Colinart, Amaury La Burthe, Peter Middleton, and James Spinney, beautifully animated to an audio-diary that writer John Hull recorded over three years to document his experience slowly going blind. Using 360° binaural audio and real time 3D animations, the film seeks to fully immerse the user in Hull’s interior vision of the world “beyond sight” and his increasing perception of “acoustic space.”

“Highrise: Out My Window” is part of the selection of the MIT Open Documentary Lab

This documentary directed by Katerina Cizek and produced by The National Film Board of Canada explores highrise living around the world. It is the oldest example of 360° video in the collection, with panoramic videos shot on a 360° Yellowbird video camera in 2010.

“Collisions” is part of the selection of the MIT Open Documentary Lab

This Emmy-winning experience, directed by Lynette Wallworth, author, in The Sydney Morning Herald, takes place in the world of indigenous elder Nyarri Morgan and the Martu tribe of Australia. Morgan relays his first hand account of an atomic bomb test and the resulting collision between his indigenous culture and the Western world.

"12 Seconds of Gunfire" is part of the selection of the MIT Open Documentary Lab.

Directed by The Washington Post Magazine.

The short film recounts the true story of what happened to Jacob Hall and Ava Olsen, who were first-graders at Townville Elementary School in South Carolina when a 14-year-old boy opened fire on their school playground. Jacob was killed and the movie follows Ava as she struggles to deal with the aftermath of the shooting.
