🛡️ Online abuse knows no borders, and tackling it requires collaboration across sectors and countries.

On 3 September, our colleague Philip Struyf will join the Dutch-German exchange on tackling online abuse, hosted by the Dutch Cloud Community (DCC) and eco - Verband der Internetwirtschaft.

The event brings together experts from industry, law enforcement, academia and policy to share best practices, discuss prevention and mitigation projects, and strengthen cross-border collaboration in areas such as DNS abuse, DDoS mitigation, secure email and data-sharing frameworks.

We look forward to joining the discussions and exchanging insights with fellow participants.

🔄 While we look at the .eu H1 2026 statistics, let’s take a closer look at renewals.

A domain name registration is just the beginning. What matters next is whether organisations choose to keep it.

At the end of the reporting period, .eu domain names continued to be renewed at a healthy rate of 82.56%.

The average annual renewal rate also remained stable and in line with the average three-year renewal rate.

These figures offer a useful indication of continued commitment to .eu domain names among registrants.

🤔 What makes one website address worth more than another?

🔒 While reviewing the .eu H1 2026 statistics, it's worth taking a closer look at DNSSEC.

At the end of the reporting period, 733,186 .eu domain names were secured with DNSSEC, representing 19% of the .eu portfolio.

By comparison, the average DNSSEC signing rate among CENTR members was 11.2%.

Although the number of signed .eu domain names declined in Q1 2026 following changes to the DNSSEC incentive programme, it had returned to the previous year's level by Q2.

DNSSEC helps protect against attacks such as DNS cache poisoning and DNS spoofing by authenticating DNS information and helping ensure it has not been altered.
