A team from Tohoku University and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology has built a silicon spintronic chip that uses probability as a feature, not a flaw. Instead of forcing every bit to stay fixed at 0 or 1, this design works with a probabilistic bit, or p bit.

You can think of a p bit as a tiny decision maker that keeps changing its state. Thermal noise helps it move between 0 and 1, while an input voltage shifts the odds. The does not simply produce random noise. It creates controlled uncertainty, which is far more useful.

Why Silicon Makes This More Than a Lab Trick

The researchers used a superparamagnetic tunnel junction, a nanoscale magnetic element that naturally flips its magnetization. That spin based behavior gives the device its unusual computing style.

SkyWater produced the base transistors and connections with a 130 nm CMOS process. Tohoku University then added the spintronic nanodevices and electrodes on top. This matters because the work connects exotic spin physics with standard silicon manufacturing.

The team confirmed two key results. The output voltage fluctuated over time, and the input voltage changed the average output. In simple terms, the chip behaved like a controllable probability engine.

What Comes Next

We believe this research could reshape how you experience AI in daily devices. Future chips based on p bits may help phones, robots, sensors, and edge devices run AI tasks with less power. That could mean longer battery life, cooler hardware, and smarter machines outside large data centers.

The technology still sits at an early stage. Yet it points to a future where computing does not fight uncertainty. It uses it.

At 2026, GALAX showcased a prototype of its new graphics card from the legendary Hall of Fame (HOF) series.

Four Fans and Swarovski Crystals

The new release features the signature white-and-silver design, this time adorned with Swarovski crystals, massive lighting, and "Hall of Fame" branding.

A pleasant appearance is not all that sets this graphics card apart; the cooling system is also highly noteworthy. While three coolers are visible on the front panel, the cooling system itself features four next-generation 4.0 fans. To assist the mechanical cooling, a massive v***r chamber and an extensive system of heat pipes are installed inside.

Dual Power Connectors and Hidden Cables

The graphics card features a fully custom printed circuit board (PCB) utilizing premium components. The main technical surprise is the inclusion of two 12V-2×6 standard power connectors at once.

For cable management convenience, placed one connector traditionally and hid the other within the PCB, which will help avoid cable chaos inside the case. This is the company's own proprietary development.

Monitoring Screen and Extreme Overclocking Button
For enthusiasts and overclockers, the developers have updated their signature control tools, such as:

- HOF Panel IV: A new detachable display panel that can display real-time system monitoring graphs, as well as play custom photos or videos.

- Hyper Boost: An upgraded physical button to instantly ramp the card's fans up to maximum speed.

- Dual BIOS: A toggle switch between performance (P-mode) and quiet (S-mode) operating profiles.

When to Expect It in Stores?

Since the GALAX brand typically releases only one HOF card per generation, this new card could become the ultimate flagship of the upcoming lineup.

Currently, there are no officially confirmed specifications, prices, or release dates.
