We tame complexity! AVSD is a company dedicated to solve complex software/enterprise architecture problems.

We believe that IT professionals and solutions architects should always have overview and comprehension about the complex heterogeneous systems environments they are responsible for . We help them effortlessly and intuitively analyse and visualize the architecture of these systems. We want to enable them:

-to quickly identify inconsistency, for example dissonance of the system approaches and

parts or misalignment with business goals, interdependent systems or infrastructure.

-simplify complexity, as complex structures exhibit unpredictable behaviour and states that are difficult to untangle.

-prevent over-engineering, that steal development time and increase cost & complexity

-audit existing systems, when a solution architect needs to re-evaluate the potential of a system in order to scale or maintain

-control risk and uncertainty - conduct impact analysis for changes or refactoring, monitor system reliability and robustness

We are providing an innovative software tool, that uses analysis techniques and metrics to project insights about the system architecture on an interactive 3D visualization model, that would allow for easy exploration and navigation.

We share an extract from a very interesting research we came across regarding the ability of Enterprise architecture tools for visual analysis. (The picture is a visual example we choose to illustrate the text) :

"However, a generally overlooked issue is to maximize the effectiveness of these visualizations, that means, to provide an overview of the model that is expressive enough to support the tasks of an analyst.

This implies using the whole spectrum of the visual language to communicate properties of the model described a set of seven visual variables (position, shape, color, size, texture, value [opacity] and orientation), which are modifications to ‘marks’ on a visual language. A ‘mark’ can be seen as an atomic unit of notation -a sign- that represents (or encodes) information.

Visual mapping is the process of translating semantic information into visual constructs that encode this information" *
