BOCRA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Innovation, North West District Council, Botswana School of Business Sciences, ABARICOM, Mascom, Botswana Fibre Networks, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation and other key stakeholders is empowering primary school learners and teachers across the North West District with essential digital skills.

From today until the 10th July 2026, students in Mababe, Khwai, Makakung, Shorobe, and Sankoyo will take part in hands on ICT training sessions designed to build digital literacy and promote cybersecurity awareness.

Together, we are equipping communities with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the digital age, creating safer and smarter online citizens.

Dr. Dimakatso Michelle Polokelo is a strategic executive and digital transformation architect with deep expertise in driving innovation across Africa’s and India’s financial services, technology, education and sustainability landscapes.

As Chief Operating Officer at Abaricom, she oversees operations across the company’s diverse portfolio, including internet services, cybersecurity, smart mining, fintech and emerging technology solutions. In this role, she ensures the seamless ex*****on of strategy, operational excellence and value creation in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

In addition to her role at Abaricom, Dr. Polokelo is the Technology Lead of Botswana’s ICT Roadmap, supporting implementation of national digital priorities and advocating for policies that support the country’s transformation into a digital economy.

Her career spans senior leadership roles across Africa and internationally, including Head of Centre for Technology & Innovation for Africa and Associate Professor at Woxsen University in India, Head of Group Saving at Letshego Holdings, Head of Business & Strategy at Letshego Rwanda Limited, and CEO of Letshego Financial Services Lesotho, where she led digital transformation strategies, fintech rollouts and market expansions.

A recognized thought leader and author, she has published three books namely Mindset Revolution, Breaking Glass Ceilings: The Myth of Women Empowerment and AI in Microfinance for Growth & Returns, with Blockchain Demystified forthcoming. Her work bridges technology, finance and sustainability, often reframing regulatory challenges into market opportunities.

Dr. Polokelo holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Selinus University of Sciences and Literature in Ragusa - Italy, an International Master in Sustainability and Circular Bioeconomy from Rome Business School in Rome - Italy, an Executive Master of Business Administration from Universita degli studi Guglielmo Marconi in Rome - Italy, Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePaul University in Chicago - USA and multiple executive certifications in AI, Blockchain, leadership and strategy.
