I’ve got uh I’ve got to say how impressed I am with Greg young down at eit.ca he's been there for two miracles that's happened to me. I found a tower on the side of a road the owner declared it dead so i finally was able to take it into EIT and have Greg look at it. Power was good we tested that all video seemed to not come on at all.
What it come down to was changing out the ram. so I bought a $10 four GB ram stick and installed it. Well didn’t it spring up to life acting all fine now. Man I put my hands up in the air a screamed because I was so happy.
I put a 250 gig hard drive on it and have installed winux. Winux is supposed to be win 11 compatible And you’re able to run all sorts of windows apps on it it comes with a full set of Microsoft office suite thought.
My second story has to do with the laptop that my friend Mike Dutch let me work on. Funky little thing. the DVD drive wouldn’t eject so that suggested a virus. took it up to Gregg in hopes that he could open up the cage get to the CMOS battery and pull it for 30 minutes that should take care of any viruses. But when he powered it in it said that the CMOS was reset. when it said that twice so that means that the C boss battery surgery doesn’t have to happen. The other thing was the power supply it was using a 3 amps charge was it only needed one amp. So powering it up with the smaller power supply it seems to make the laptop happier. Gave it back to Dutch so he could play with it. paid $15 for the power supply but going to charge $25 for that and the winux install also $20 bucks I won’t ever see it and he'll just pawn it off for $$
