Haunted house tour, entrepreneur edition đź‘»
Six things quietly haunting your business, and the real stories behind each one: the 2017 logo you hide from on proposals, the Monday inbox monster, scope creep, the "how's your little business going?" question at family dinners, tax season dread, and the outdated website sending dream clients to someone else.
Plus: the $30K tax surprise that became my maternity leave, and what changed when I redid my own brand and website.

Let's be honest, a trendy AI-generated graphic isn't going to fix a brand that isn't working.

The problem isn't your Canva skills. It's that your brand hasn't kept up with how far you've actually come. AND no amount of AI slop is going to change that.

What actually moves the needle forward is a brand that was built intentionally. One that looks and feels like YOU. Not some generic template, trend or what everyone else in your industry is doing. You WANT to stand out and make your ideal client feel like they already know, like and trust you before they even reach out.

That's the real difference between a brand that just exists and one that actually works.

If you've been sitting on the sidelines for a rebrand because you're not sure it's the right time.. it's probably time. ✨

I’ve spent 20 minutes perfecting a caption that has gotten crickets.

And I’ve written posts on a whim, hit share, and immediately thought oof, was that oversharing

Guess which ones filled my DMs with “this is exactly me.”

Perfection creates distance. Real moments create connection. And connection is what trust is built on.

So here’s your little nudge: post the thing you almost didn’t. Not your whole life story, just one real moment this week.

More on how buyers decide to trust you on this week’s episode of The Self Made Life Podcast 🎧 Link in bio.

You have about 10 seconds before someone decides whether they trust you online. Ashley breaks down the three brand signals buyers read before they ever read your copy (visual consistency, messaging that sounds like you, and authenticity over perfection) plus three things to do this week so people land on your page and feel like they already know you.

Let's be honest.. you can tell.

You can tell when something was designed by a human who actually cared, and when it was generated in thirty seconds and they called it a day.

AI has its place in our workflow. We use it for research, copy refinement and for efficiency. But when it comes to the strategy, creative direction and the deep understanding of who you actually are, what you do, and who you're trying to reach? That's not something you can prompt your way into. That all takes time, experience, and a human who actually gives a damn. 🦋

The storm passes. The ritual remains. ✨

Introducing .apothecary Born from the belief that caring for yourself doesn't need to be elaborate to matter.

Courtney came to me with a vision so clear and so beautifully her, and my job was simply to make sure the world could finally see what I could already feel in every conversation we had. Tempestra isn't just a product, it's an invitation to slow down. And now it has a home that feels exactly like that.

Bianca DiPietro has spent her career building other people's brands — first as a professor at Humber College (where she and Ashley actually taught together), then leading creative at HelloFresh Canada and Chefs Plate, and now running the design team at Jane App, the practice management software a huge number of Ashley's own health and wellness clients use every day.
But when it came to building her own personal brand, Bianca couldn't do it alone — so she came to Monarch.
In this episode, Ashley and Bianca get into how Bianca builds design teams that move fast without losing brand personality, the "safe" branding advice she actively ignores (hint: it involves the big dramatic rebrand reveal), and why even the most experienced creative in the room is often too close to see their own brand clearly. Plus: roller derby, donuts, and running lessons that made her a better leader.
In this episode:

Building a design team that scales without losing its culture
Why Jane's brand philosophy comes down to three words: human, helpful, delightful
The "safe" rebrand advice Bianca ignores — and what she does instead
What it actually felt like being on the client side of her own brand project
Why creatives who could DIY their brand often shouldn't
