Reusetechbc

Reusetechbc We are ReuseTechBC! We have redistributed over 200,000 computers across the province, supporting digital access and reducing e-waste.

We collect donated computers (and all types of other tech), train volunteers to refurbish them, and then distribute the computers to non-profits, low-income families, and schools. Incorporated in 1995, British Columbia Technology for Learning Society is a registered charity (doing business as ReuseTechBC) that refurbishes and redistributes donated computers for Canadians in need. Youth technicians are given volunteer experience to refurbish equipment that is then sent to non-profits, low-income individuals, and schools. Our mission is to provide access to affordable technology to Canadians and contribute to the circular economy through reuse. For more information visit www.reusetechbc.ca

This year’s wildfires impacted many British Columbians, who lost more than we can imagine.

We sent laptops to families who lost their homes in the fires, which were greatly needed to complete insurance claims and support other needs after such a devastating loss.

Did you know there were this many recyclable materials in just one laptop?

What happens when the laptop gets to the depot? You can’t just melt down an entire laptop and hope for the best.

Laptops are made up of many components that are dangerous to humans AND the environment if not disassembled properly.

But there’s really no need to take apart a perfectly good, reusable laptop if it’s still in good, working condition! Technology reuse helps to minimize e-waste and support a circular economy.

If you’re in British Columbia, send it on over to us. If not, find a reuse organization near you.

We are this year’s Surrey & White Rock Environment & Business Award winner in the Small Business category!

Our thanks to the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade for the recognition. Refurbishment and reuse are an important part of the circular economy and delay a usable device’s trip to the recycling bin.
