🔐 Passwords are fading. Passkeys are showing up. Here’s what that means for Microsoft 365 users.

If you log into Microsoft 365 today, you probably use:

- A password
- Then an MFA prompt that says “Approve sign‑in?”

If you don’t use MFA at all, pause here → you should.
Passwords alone are no longer safe in 2026.

Now, here’s the next shift we’re starting to see: passkeys.

Passkeys let you sign in using:

- Your face
- Your fingerprint (make sure your new laptop has a fingerprint reader)
- Or a quick PIN on a trusted device

No password.
No approval spam.
Nothing to “click by mistake.”

For users, it feels easier.
For businesses, it removes a big chunk of risk—especially the kind that starts with employees getting tired of MFA prompts they didn't initiate and clicking Approve just to make them stop. This is now a common method of attack.

BYOD with Microsoft 365: Flexible ✅ Powerful ✅ …but not risk‑free
