September was officially iPhone announcement season! While millions of people get ready to upgrade, secondhand marketplaces has now seen a massive flood of used phones. Unfortunately, that also means scammers are out in full force with counterfeit iPhones.
If you are hunting for a deal on a used phone this fall, run these quick checks before handing over any cash:
📱 Verify the IMEI: Check the serial number in Settings > General > About, then plug it into Apple’s official coverage check page. If the model or purchase status does not match up, do not buy it.
🗣️ Test Siri and the App Store: Knockoff iPhones run cheap Android software in disguise. Test Siri and open the App Store. If Siri will not respond or the store looks off, it is a fake.
🔍 Look at the Details: Genuine iPhones have flawless build quality. Watch out for plastic camera lenses, uneven speaker holes at the bottom, or weird-looking system fonts.
Share this with anyone shopping for a used phone this season!
