A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your patience over the past month.

​As a one-woman team building BlueJot from the ground up, I recently had to navigate an unexpected health challenge, which required a temporary pause.

​I'm happy to share that I am back, and development is in its final stages. The core features are looking fantastic, and we are on track for the upcoming launch of the Founding Members Program.

​I'm more committed than ever to solving the logbook problem for Alberta's trades community and can't wait to share our progress with you. Stay tuned for more updates!

Yes, you can make six figures in the trades.

But you probably won’t right away.

That part somehow gets left out when the media pushes the ‘ditch college, pick up a wrench, and get rich’ narrative.

Most trades start you at apprentice pay — which can be less than retail — and it can take years before you hit those big-money numbers.

We need to stop selling the dream without showing the grind.

Otherwise, we’re just setting people up for the same kind of disappointment they had with college degrees.

I spent today deep-diving as much as I could into the latest official government guides for the electrician trade. The complexity of the paper 'competency portfolio' is staggering, and it just reinforces that BlueJot's mission, that is, to make apprenticeship tracking efficient, compliant, accurate, and a true tool for mentorship, isn't just a nice-to-have. IT'S A NECESSITY.

Humbly building in public to solve a real problem for Alberta's skilled trades. Follow our journey toward launch!

It's 1:20am, and I think I'm finally ready to call it a night... or day? 😅

Sometimes the founder's journey means late nights turning a vision into a reality, pixel by pixel. Tonight's mission was to build the official homepage (the page on the right screen) for the BlueJot web app, and I'm so thrilled with how it's coming together making sure it's consistent with the existing landing page (the page on the left screen).

Getting the design and the core user access (like the signup and login pages) just right is a huge milestone. It feels real now.

It’s a lot of work, but when you're this passionate about solving a problem, time goes by quickly. So grateful for this journey and for everyone who has supported me so far.

Now... time for some sleep. Good night!

PS. I've finally decided on my corporation's name today so I can finally incorporate before we launch 🥹 BlueJot will only be our first product. So many problems to solve and we will be building with purpose. 🫡

We are a pre-launch company and we aim to solve a major, validated administrative problem for thousands of skilled trades contractors here in Alberta. The market is huge, the product is needed, and the feedback from industry leaders has been incredible.

This is a freelance, 100% commission-based role to start, with a very generous recurring commission structure and performance bonuses. Your mission will be to work directly with me to secure our first 30 "Founding Member" companies.

A little 'behind-the-scenes' look at the BlueJot build! I'm so excited to share that the Apprentice Dashboard is about 90% complete, and everything is on track for our October launch🤞

It has been an incredible learning journey. As someone without a formal background in software development, building a full-scale web app is a huge challenge. There's a mountain of new things to learn, and yes, I'm definitely a bit anxious to get to the final testing phase to make sure every button and workflow is perfect for our first users.

But that's what this journey is all about. It proves that if you're obsessed enough with solving a real problem, you can learn the tools and build the solution. I'm so passionate about making life easier for Alberta's skilled trades, and that's the fuel that gets me through every technical hurdle.

I can't wait to get this into the hands of our Founding Members this Fall! The countdown is on 😉

It's amazing what can happen in a couple of weeks 😯

Less than two weeks ago, the idea for BlueJot didn't even exist. Today, thanks to the incredible guidance and support from so many of you in the Alberta trades and tech communities, we have a live landing page, a validated business plan, and a growing waitlist of Founding Members.

I've been thinking a lot about what a founder's journey really is. It's not about having all the answers. It's about being obsessed with a problem and being humble enough to ask for help from the experts who live that problem every day.

I am so grateful for every single person who has shared their time and wisdom with me. You are the ones truly building this. What might normally take months has happened in a flash, and it's all because of your generosity.

It just proves that if you have a clear mission and you're willing to listen, you can make incredible progress. Feeling very grateful today. ☺️🙏

I'm honestly blown away by the support from experts in the skilled trades community. A huge thank you to this Master Electrician and instructor, for not only taking the time to chat with me but for sharing his belief in what we're building at BlueJot.

His feedback that the industry "needs" a solution like this is the single greatest piece of motivation a founder could ask for. It confirms that the problem is real, and the mission is important.

This is what building in public is all about: partnering with the people you're trying to serve.

Getting to this point has been a journey, especially while navigating a move and taking care of my little puppy, Gus, after he broke his leg. It's moments like these that test a founder's resolve.
