🎮🔧 Another PlayStation 5 Back in Action! 🔧🎮
Another PS5 came across the repair bench, this time with a slightly damaged HDMI port causing the picture to cut in and out! 📺⚠️
While the console was still producing video, the intermittent signal was a clear indication that something wasn’t right. Even minor damage to an HDMI connector can cause frustrating display issues that typically worsen over time.
🔬 But the HDMI port wasn’t the only issue we discovered!
During the repair, we also inspected the console’s cooling system and discovered dry spots on the APU (processor) where the factory liquid metal was no longer providing proper coverage.
Liquid metal plays a critical role in transferring heat away from the PS5’s processor. When coverage becomes uneven, it can create hot spots and potentially lead to overheating or performance issues.
🛠️ Here’s what we took care of:
✅ Carefully removed the damaged HDMI port
✅ Installed a brand-new HDMI connector with properly soldered connections
✅ Inspected the APU and discovered areas with insufficient liquid metal coverage
✅ Thoroughly cleaned and prepared the affected surfaces
✅ Applied fresh liquid metal to restore proper coverage and heat transfer
✅ Reassembled and tested the console for stable video output
🎮 The result? A PS5 with a solid HDMI connection, stable picture, and refreshed liquid metal application to help keep temperatures under control!
💡 Did you know? Your PS5 can have cooling issues without immediately showing obvious symptoms. Uneven liquid metal coverage can contribute to excessive heat buildup, making proper inspection and maintenance important.
📸 Check out the repair photos! You’ll see the HDMI port replacement along with the dry spots discovered on the APU before the liquid metal was reapplied.
