Your knees make noises. Your glasses have vanished. And now you’re comparing tomato crops with your best friend.

"Age & Other Amusements" is my greeting card collection for the things we laugh about with friends—and recognise a little too well.

Each card has a message inside that carries on the joke, plus room for your own.

$7 each, envelope included.

Find one for the friend who’ll read it and say, “That’s us.”

"You don’t leave everything behind when you begin again."

The places you’ve lived, the people you’ve loved, the lives you’ve led—they become layers of who you are. Some are visible. Others only you know are there.

Keeper of the Light carries a lighthouse in his spine. A story of migration, memory and choosing where to belong, while keeping something of every place you’ve called home.

For anyone who has ever struggled to give a simple answer to “Where are you from?”

Original folk art by Anthea Taljaard, made in Nova Scotia.

Make room for a piece that speaks to your own layered story. Follow the product link to bring Keeper of the Light home.

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! 🍁

Today I’m thankful for a place to belong, the freedom to keep becoming myself, and the people who make this country feel like home—those wonderful friends who pull up a chair, check on each other, and make room for others.

And thank you again—for buying my art, showing up to a talk, making time for a call, telling me your stories, and simply connecting.

This goes out to old and new friends, and the slightly odd birds who make life more interesting. Hockey socks and all.

Whatever your table looks like this weekend—big, small, beautifully chaotic, or peacefully quiet—I hope there’s laughter, kindness, and a sense of belonging.

It’s a great year to be Canadian—I’m thankful for all the good of 2026! 🍁

SaltSpray Design’s shop is now exclusively online!

With a new tenant moving into the basement space of the church (announcement coming soon) —I’ve moved my studio home. You can continue to browse and buy through SaltSpray’s website.

The making continues with a greater reach into new markets! More characterful folk-art critters and girls, with new characters and collections on the way. Shipping will deliver them to your door.

I’m also creating a second website under my own name for public speaking, AI workshops and more. These changes give me more freedom to make, travel around the province and build the next chapter. Plenty ahead!

Come see what’s in the online shop: www.saltspraydesign.ca

Meet Side Eye. 🐟

He’s heard your fishing story. He has a few doubts about the size of that fish...

Yellow raincoat, hands in his pockets, and an opinion he’s keeping to himself. For now.

I’ve rather enjoyed making this fisherman. For anyone who loves the Atlantic—and knows someone who can say quite a lot without saying much.

Why not have him keep an eye on things at your place? Message me for details.

I came away from the Atlantic Provinces Reverse Trade Show at Pier 21 with a head full of possibilities!

Running a small business, you spend a lot of time getting the work done. Having the chance to meet buyers, ask questions and see where your business might fit in with corporate buying is enormously helpful.

Thank you to the organisers and everyone who took the time to talk and point me in the right direction for government procurement.

I left feeling encouraged about the opportunities for SaltSpray Design and my Experience to Income workshops—and with plenty to follow up on!

Message me here or email [email protected].

One of the joys of technology is that I can be here on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, having a conversation that reaches someone halfway around the world. I rather love being part of this global village.

Thank you to the immigrant podcast hosts , , who have welcomed me, A South African /Canadian into their conversations from Ireland to Tennessee, and Peru to California and , and to everyone who has listened, and visited my website to discover more.

To all those who have crossed a border, know what it feels like to start again, find your feet or wonder where you belong, I hope these conversations offer you: a moment of recognition, a laugh, perhaps an idea for your own next chapter. It’s also what I bring to my sculptures and my book, Soul Decor.

If you love reaching across borders and these conversations sound like your kind of company, come and explore Soul Decor and the folk art characters behind my stories. You might recognise a little of yourself.
