Found this on my phone, my whiteboard sketch from when I was planning out the multiplayer backend for the online multiplayer mode for a game, coming soon!

All clients globally speak to one server, encrypted comms, Nakama, Postgres, a custom rule checker, and hardened SSH backend. All sketched out with a marker before a single line of code was written.

It actually works now. Pretty cool to look back at where it started 😁 I’m so pumped

Your router or access point isn’t the only thing deciding whether you’re on 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Your client devices have a say in that too, and it’s usually overlooked.

I proved it live by forcing the band in Device Manager on the same SSID, then broke it down on the whiteboard through the 802.11 supplicant. Understanding this is the difference between fighting your WiFi and actually fixing it.

Your microwave can wreck your Wi-Fi, and here’s the proof
I ran a clean speed test, stable, no drops. Then I turned on the microwave and watched the connection tank in real time.
Your microwave, your Wi-Fi, your smart bulbs, and your cameras all share the same 2.4GHz frequency. When the microwave fires up, it floods that space and your Wi-Fi gets drowned out.
Moving to 5GHz can help, but it’s not always a permanent fix, plenty of other devices crowd that band too.

The Terrible Wi-Fi experience we all dislike can be caused by different factors.
Here I broke down what’s going on in an office environment here in Ontario, after discovering the root cause of their Wi-Fi issue, and it lead back to something we call an Access point controller.

This was me walking a 10,000 sq ft office in Ontario, capturing wireless signals in real time and mapping the coverage live as I moved through the building.

Wi-Fi technology is incredible. I still feel awe learning about it and helping people see how important wireless engineering really is, especially since we all rely on Wi-Fi every single day.

My goal is to show people how cool it is watching invisible RF signals turn into something you can actually visualize on screen.
You start noticing weak spots, coverage changes, roaming behavior, and how the environment affects the network itself.
