🎸From Playing Electric Guitar to Building One🪵
Hi, I’m Zhipeng, an international student at Conestoga College.
I studied Music Performance in China, specializing in electric guitar, and I used to play in a band. I’ve always loved the sound and energy of ’80s metal music. 🎸🤘
After coming to Canada, I began studying Woodworking Technician at Conestoga. Music and woodworking may seem like two different paths, but for me, they are gradually coming together. My dream is to build an electric guitar with my own hands—and then play it on stage one day.
I’m naturally quiet and don’t usually say very much, but music has always been another way for me to express myself. When I’m not practicing guitar or working on a woodworking project, I enjoy reading books about philosophy and religion, cooking, and exploring the area by bike. 📚🚲
My friends often joke that my cooking could beat almost any Chinese restaurant in Waterloo Region. I’ll let them be the judges—but I’m always happy to cook for them. 🍜🥘
For me, studying in Canada is not about leaving music behind. It is about learning a new craft and finding another way to bring my interests together. One day, I hope the guitar in my hands will be one that I built myself.
For me, studying in Canada is not about leaving music behind. It is about learning a new craft and finding another way to bring my interests together. Right now, I’m starting with a small table—my first woodworking project. But every project begins with a first piece, and I believe that one day, the guitar in my hands will be one I built myself. 🎸🪵
