What does it take to lead a 63-year-old company through change, growth, and uncertainty?

Recently, our CEO, Carla Johanns, joined Denise Gustavson on the Her Imprint podcast for an honest conversation about leadership, resilience, mentorship, and the journey that brought her back to the family business she never planned to lead.

From returning to Simpson Group during one of the most difficult chapters in her family's history to helping transform the company into one of Canada's most diversified print manufacturing organizations, Carla shares the lessons, challenges, and mindset shifts that have shaped her career.

Some of the topics explored in the episode:

• Building credibility in a traditionally male-dominated industry
• Turning obstacles into opportunities for growth
• The importance of mentorship and developing future leaders
• Why "presses are not sold without sales" remains one of her core business philosophies
• Learning to be kinder to yourself while pursuing ambitious goals

One of our favourite takeaways:
"No one has to prove anything to anyone but yourself."

And another reminder every leader needs to hear:

"Be kind to yourself. It's okay to fail. It's okay to stumble. This too shall pass."

Thank you to Denise Gustavson and the Her Imprint team for creating a platform that celebrates and amplifies the women shaping the future of print.

A busy retail environment is one of the toughest places to capture consumer attention.

For MCoBeauty’s activation at Real Canadian Superstore in Etobicoke, every element had to work together to create a destination shoppers couldn’t miss.

Here’s a quick look at the finished installation.

We’ll be sharing a deeper breakdown of the production, fabrication, logistics, and ex*****on behind this project on LinkedIn in the coming days.

Every material, lighting element, product riser, and butterfly detail was produced to support the visual identity of the launch while remaining functional for a live public space.

A national retail rollout across 10 locations! Swipe to see our displays in store.

Every store we built this in is slightly different. From modular display systems to on-site install alignment, every location was built to deliver the same brand experience, regardless of those differences.

This program required production, coordination, adaptability, and consistency across every environment.

Stay tuned for next week where we go into details on back end, coordination, and renderings. 🔨💄

The quality of a printed piece is determined long before it reaches the press.

Ink behaviour, material compatibility, and production method all impact the final result. Especially at scale.

UV offset printing allows for greater consistency, faster curing, and expanded material options compared to traditional methods.

At Simpson Print, this is built into a fully integrated production process; aligning material selection, print method, and ex*****on from start to finish.

Because to us, print isn’t just about appearance, it’s about performance.
