Fun Day.
The funnest day of the year in Oyama... except maybe Turkey bingo!! 😉IYKYK🤫

The day started out with awesome pancakes, ham and real maple syrup served up by wonderful volunteers.... they were even clearing our plates for us afterwards. What great service!

At the parade, smiles were abound, horns and sirens were aplenty, candy was thrown and gladly gobbled up by many eager hands!

Food and beverage vendors were on point, the burgers served up by our firefighters were amazing; as usual, and all proceeds will go to the Oyama Traditional School PAC! There were activities for the kids and families to do, some wonderful face paintings were walking around - and there were lots of cool local vendors and information booths to check out too.

Inside the hall were some fabulous auction items - we were lucky enough to have won a cool new game!! 😎

Thank you to all who came out to enjoy some fun, thank you even more to all the amazing Oyama Community Club and other various community volunteers. Without you things like this couldn't happen. 🥰 May the Peep Peep P**p odds be ever in your favour, and I hope you won the thing you most wanted in the auction.. and if not, I hope you enjoyed the day!

WedStock 2.0 was a fantastic time this past weekend in Oyama. We celebrated 20yrs together and 10yrs married for two lovely humans, I get to call friends.

Drunk and Pretending played us into the night, and by the time it was "dance party o'clock" - I was ready to put my gear down, and get down!!!

The 2026 Oyama Car Show yesterday May 24th, was the 6th annual, and in my opinion our best yet!

Big Thanks to all the volunteers and organizers that helped to make this happen. Thanks to the Oyama Community Club for hosting every year! There was even a kids space in the hall.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show, who stopped by to donate to the Club, and who supported local businesses in the food truck area.

I haven’t blogged in a really long while, but I think I am ready to start sharing more regularly again! All the things I have been up to this past while haven’t really been seen, or shared. I have sincerely been focused on living life and pursuing the types of photography projects that really make my heart sing and so I’ve not really took the time to document things. It’s time I started catching up!

I hope you enjoy the updates I have planned, and that you get to know me and my business a little better for it!

This past summer I took part in a workshop lead by an industry leader. Dave Brosha Photography. A mentor that I have looked up to for over a decade - ever since he said something along the lines of - Most people will tell you that you have to specialize in one type of photography to become a successful professional, but NOT ME.

That statement resonated on a chord that really struck home. I have never been drawn to only one genre of photography.

I strive to capture essences - of people, of places, of things.
Of moments in time.

So when I saw in early 2023 that Dave was coming to Kelowna in 2025 with Wayne Simpson Photography to co-teach a workshop, I bit the bullet, invested what felt like a small fortune out of my, let’s be totally honest here… minuscule savings in my business account, and anxiously awaited my turn to be in his presence again. To reignite my creative passion!

Dave Brosha and Wayne Simpson lead their portraiture series called “Character” here in the Okanagan in July. The last portraiture workshop I attended lead by Dave was called “Creative Bootcamp” WAAAY back in 2014. I had loved that one, so I was very excited to attend this three day series. It paralleled the type of portraiture that I strive to do. Capture the Character of your subject. Do it indoors or out, and do it well.

Our first day, it poured rain, like cats and dogs style rain… which, if you know anything about the Okanagan Valley in July - was a total fluke. It’s a desert climate here, and it’s not uncommon to go literally months without rain in the summer time. So we took it in stride and decided to stay in our venue, Wines to photograph our subjects indoors, with a single light. It was a wonderful and diverse venue to play around in and get to know the new equipment we’d be using for the series.

The models that Dave and his team finds, I have found, are always diverse and very interesting.
On this day I connected with three wonderful Characters!

Margo - a bubbly creator, with a kind deep soul
Bill - a gruff local mountaineer, who’s facade I was determined to crack
and Sam - a salt of the earth cowboy with an incredible life’s tale
