Sometimes, all it takes is a little colour, creativity and a whole lot of love to make a difference in a neighbourhood.

For local artist Jason Recker, that's exactly what he's been doing for the past five years from his studio at 796 Dundas Street in Old East Village.

Originally searching for an affordable space to create his artwork, Jason discovered something more: an opportunity to become part of a community he believes has tremendous potential.

Inspired by Andy Warhol, Jason specializes in vibrant pop art celebrating music, automobiles and popular culture. His commissioned pieces have found homes in numerous locations, including a prominent display in the lounge of London's Hard Rock Hotel.

But perhaps his most recognizable contribution is right outside his studio.

His colourful "All You Need Is Love" mural, inspired by the Beatles classic, has become a neighbourhood landmark, attracting photographs, visitors and even wedding celebrations.

For Jason, art is about more than creating something beautiful. It's about bringing positive energy to the streets around him.

And despite the challenges facing Old East Village, his optimism remains strong.
"They don't build old main streets anymore," Jason explains, pointing to the neighbourhood's unique character and creative possibilities.

For Jason Recker, the future of Old East Village is a canvas still waiting to be painted. And he's already helping bring it to life.

NEW RELEASE! Vintage Porsche 911. The classic lines of the 911 have been a favourite of mine since I was a teenager staring at the poster on my wall. The body style changed very little from its mid-60’s introduction to the late 80’s where it was perfected in my mind. The last analog sports car. At one point these were just old cars that no one wanted but now they are almost impossible to find at an affordable price. Still the only authentic driver out there for me and is still on the top of my wish list.

I’ve had a pile of concert ticket stubs collecting since I was 14 yrs old knowing one day I would do something with them. Who knew that those little pieces of paper would hold so much value to me. Each one has a story behind it, an adventure with friends, road trips, poor decisions made, and all great memories of a life lived. I wish I had all the stubs but the important ones are here. I’ve mounted all of them onto a previous piece of art that suits the theme and next step is finishing it in resin.

Do you have stubs that you want to be able to display? Maybe you followed a band and have kept souvenirs from the shows? These are great memories that shouldn’t live in a box somewhere. Don’t forget about all the fun stuff you did as a kid a keep those memories alive! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
