How to protect your PC in easy steps from WannaCry virus! Here is how:

Basic: [ At least make sure you do this]
1) Connect to the Internet, and then start Windows Internet Explorer.
2) On the Tools menu, click Windows Update.
3) Make sure ALL updates are successfully installed.
4)Restart system.

Expert: [ Do NOT perform step #2 onwards unless you are expert. Always back up system]
1. Install all available OS updates including to prevent getting exploited
2. Manually disable SMBv1 via modifications made to Windows Registry by following these steps:
a. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
b. Look for Value: SMB1
c. Modify Data: REG_DWORD: 0 = Disabled
3. Restrict inbound traffic to open SMB ports (ports 139, 445) which are publicly accessible / open to Internet.
4. Block the IPs, Domains, Hash values that are involved in spreading this malware. Please refer the attachment – IOCs – WANNACRY RANSOMWARE.xlsx for details.
5. Implement endpoint security solutions. The ‘AV Signature Name’ section under IOCs – WANNACRY RANSOMWARE.xlsx can be referred.
6. Keep an offline backup of critical data on desktops and servers.
7. Organisations should block connections to TOR nodes and TOR traffic on network (IOCs – WANNACRY RANSOMWARE.xlsx)

Kids watching P**N or bad sites popping up ?? It's a nightmare for every good parents out there. With 2 simple steps, you can FILTER ALL p**n contents out effectively from your entire household PCs/Smart devices hooked up to home wifi for FREE - do you know that? Thanks to OpenDns, please Follow these SIMPLE steps.

1)1. Open the preferences for your router. [(example: http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1] Find the DNS server settings.

2.Enter these numbers in DNS server settings.
208.67.222.123
208.67.220.123

That's IT. You may need to unplug your modem and router for 3 minutes / FLUSH DNS : Start -> Run- > Command prompt [cmd] -> ipconfig /flushdns

[ What is a Modem? Modem : which connects directly to your internet provider's cable, Router : which is connected to your Modem (usually with small antennas) .Some may have Modem+ router combo as well]

Will this stop all p**n sites? Yes, it should filter out ALL p**n sites.

What you should NOT do? Secure your modem with a password and dont share it with kids.
