Each week we deliver donations to people in need, and for privacy reasons we never post photos from the actual drop-offs. This photo, taken at the family’s place, with the outside blurred to protect their location, was snapped by my dad right before we delivered a refurbished tablet and laptop that we upgraded with a new SSD and a fresh installation of Windows 10.

Today we met a mother and her daughters who are facing real challenges, including financial hardship, past homelessness, a small living space, and ongoing issues with school placement and health. I wish I could share more, but we always protect the privacy of the families we help. What I can say is that today was especially heart-warming. They invited us in, shared their story, and even donated some old tech to help others. They also gave us a thank-you card and a small treat, completely unexpected, and incredibly generous given everything they’re dealing with.

My dad will be personally providing them with a free data SIM card so they can set up a hotspot and have internet access until they are able to get connected through Rogers’ Connected for Success program.

Moments like this remind me why your donations matter so much.

Thank you to everyone who has donated recently. There is currently a big need for SSD drives, Wi-Fi adapters, and cellphones any make or model in decent condition. I have several laptops and computers waiting on SSDs, and we are completely out of phones to refurbish.

Several devices have been handed out over the past few weeks, and as of today we currently have over 10 devices, cell phones, a family computer, gaming PCs, laptops, and tablets ready to go. My dad and I are currently in discussions with Mission Services of London and LIFE*SPIN to make sure everything reaches the right hands and those who truly need it, especially the three gaming PCs, which we hope will go to kids who otherwise wouldn’t have access to a gaming console or computer. These would be a cool Christmas gift for a child who has never had one.

As always, our mission is to provide tech to low-income families and individuals. Every donated device can make a real difference in someone’s life.

Today, I received a donation from Karen, who had also donated a few months ago! This laptop needs a bit of work, but it will be refurbished, the iPhone, iPad, and other devices will be reset, fully charged, and tested and will soon be ready to be donated back into the community. Also today i had to swap out an old hard drive in an iMac, it was a bid tedious having to remove the screen, but once i got inside, the swap was simple. This iMac is now running 10x faster with the new SSD. Im currently in discussions with 2 local foundations who work directly with low income and struggling families, these partnerships will make sure these refurbished devices get into the hands of those who need them. - Arlie

Today I received a very generous donation from a local business in downtown London.
I’m so excited to start working on these, restoring, upgrading, and getting them back out the door to help others in our community who could use a helping hand.

With Christmas right around the corner, two of these gaming PCs will be upgraded, reset, and ready to find a good home, maybe even as gifts under the tree! I have a GTX GPU from another donor which will be put to use in one of these! This goes to show how reusing hardware to build up other systems works!

A big thank you to Linda, who just donated two laptops, an iPad Mini, and a few other accessories. These laptops will be refurbished and donated back into the community as soon as I get some more SSD hard drives. You can also see a really cool PC in the back, which I am currently finishing up and is almost ready to be donated back into the community. Thank you to everyone who continues to support this.

Several laptops and computers have been donated back to the community recently. My Dad helped deliver this one on Friday to someone that reached out, they are on ODSP and working hard to upgrade their skills and get back into the workforce. We upgraded the laptop with extra RAM and a new SSD drive, and now it’s running faster than ever, we hope it helps! Donations continue to come in, helping replenish more than a dozen laptops and computers that have already been given back to the community. I currently have about four laptops and twelve PCs ready to be refurbished, upgraded, and donated once again. Hey everyone, I know I’ve been quiet lately, but I’ve been really busy. I have a few updates about donations I’ve received and also donations I’ve given back into the community. More updates on that soon.

In this photo, I was given four laptops from someone who needed all of their photos recovered. I was able to recover over 5,000 photos and save them on a USB stick for them. One of the things I’ve been working on is data recovery.

Hey everyone, quick update. Today I dropped off the last of the unusable refurbished computers. Before doing so, I salvaged useful parts like RAM, Wi-Fi cards, and power supplies to upgrade other donated machines. I also recovered photos and files from the hard drives of two non-working laptops for someone who needed their data restored.

In total, 6 laptops and 15 desktop computers were successfully salvaged and have all been donated to families here in London who needed a computer or laptop. This was all made possible thanks to the support of the community and generous businesses like Home Hardware and others who donated their old devices to be refurbished and given back to those in need.

Now that the final computer from that batch has been placed, I’m ready for a new round of donations. If you have any computers, laptops, tablets, or other devices you'd like to donate, please get in touch. Thank you for your continued support.
