Elijah’s journey with Kekuli Café Merritt Kekuli Café started behind the counter — as an employee bringing charisma, passion, and a genuinely caring heart to the job.

When the opportunity came to become our very first franchisee, he took the leap. Today, he owns and operates two very successful locations, in Merritt and Kamloops.

Here’s what we’ve learned watching Elijah grow: we can teach the operational side of running a business — the systems, the financial literacy, the day-to-day skills of ownership. What we can’t teach is Character. Attitude. Determination.

The instinct to care about your team, your community, and your culture. Elijah brought that with him from day one, and it’s exactly what has sustained his career and his success as a franchise owner.

Merritt BC and Kamloops BC - April, 2026 – Kekuli Café Coffee is the winner of the 2026 Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) Franchisee of the Year award.

The award was presented to franchisee Elijah Mack-Stirling on April 20, 2026, during the 35th annual CFA National Convention at The Westin, Ottawa, Ontario.

The Franchisee of the Year award acknowledges the accomplishments and excellence of CFA member franchisees for their business performance, community service, as well as involvement in their franchise brand.

Sharon Bondhogg born and raised in Merritt BC. Grew up with an entrepreneurial spirit! Always wanting to own her own business! She took her vision of owning a cafe and many business plan ideas and turned it all into reality!

Building her business from the ground up. Her goal: to have a business that would sustain her family and give jobs to her people. It’s not about the bannock or food, it’s about giving people a gathering place where they feel like they belong, they feel welcomed and support indigneous business that gives jobs to all people who want to work. Giving skills and mentorship’s to our youth. Giving them opportunities to lead. She empowers people to be leaders. Your presence and support at kekuli cafe is more than a bannock or coffee it’s supporting jobs and life skills.
