🚨 Binance client data reportedly used in Russian terrorism-financing case
According to a Reuters report cited by Cointelegraph, Binance provided Russian authorities with transaction records and personal information connected to IT specialist Yuri Belenkiy. Russian investigators later used the information as evidence in a case involving crypto donations to Ukrainian fundraising efforts.
The reported data included transaction history as well as identifying information and copies of identity documents. Binance said it cooperates with lawful law-enforcement requests globally, subject to applicable legal, privacy and regulatory requirements.
The case raises a bigger question for the crypto industry:
