Hi. I've realized for a long time that I'm sitting on a gold mine, since my carefully curated videogame collection is the talk of the town.

Lately, however, certain conversations I've had and the observations I've made have really driven this point home for me.

I've previously mentioned that Nintendo has upped the prices on their Mario, Zelda and Pokemon titles, even the ones like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Odyssey that launched with the original Switch back in 2018. Now except for the latter three, it's hard to find any physical copies of most older Mario titles as they're only available on digital download.

So Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and others that I've got in stock are pretty much the only copies available and I'm still charging $80.00 tax included instead of $80.00 plus tax like Game Stop used to do, now raised to $90.00 plus tax. You save almost $20.00 buying it from me; just another reason to shop local and support small businesses.

In other news, my accountant is back on his feet after a long hiatus and I'll get my tax returns processed this week.

About time.

Hi. Things are finally coming along.

One. I picked up that translucent green N64 controller from my supplier after much squabbling on their part. I've dealt with rude, disrespectful staff at pawnshops before but I expected better from these guys.

Anybody else notice that customer service seems to gone to crap all across the board? Some places are better than others, so you just have to persevere till the end.

Two. I'm in line to pick up a complete in box copy of Pokemon White 2 for DS and a brand new sealed copy of Ys: Memories of Celceta Timeless Adventurer deluxe edition for PS4. Just one more installment left to go and they're mine.

Three. My accountant is recovering from his dental surgery and will finish completing my income tax returns this coming week. It's amazing how often Revenue Canada screws up your tax records and then tries to force you to refile everything instead of correcting their typos. Disgusting. Zero respect for the people whose hard work pays their salaries.

Well, that's it for now.

Hi. I just picked up a used PSP Fat from my supplier. It works great, is in very good condition and is up for sale.

Some of my customers ordered games through me and I was able to fulfilled those orders except for one: Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate edition (with all the DLS and the Phantom Liberty pack already included) which my other supplier promised would be reserved for me but wasn't when I got there. Not the first time they screwed up.

Oh, well.

Hi. Nothing else gives you sense of accomplishment than building or fixing something yourself. Whether its building a business, starting a family or completing a project (like refurbishing a PS Vita to bring my total to three units, you get a clean rush and it's better than any drug.

Hi. I just visited the new EB Games location in the Cours Mont Royal in downtown Montreal. It's touted as the biggest EB Games store in the world and that's an understatement as it looks more like a resort. There's gaming stations, Gunpla kits, toys, figurines and all the stuff you've come to expect from EB Games.

As you can probably tell, I occasionally shop at EB Games as well as at Best Buy and other retailers, which is why I accept their gift cards at face value. Great way to get new games when they come out since I don't have a business account with Nintendo, Playstation nor Microsoft, nor their wholesalers, so this is the only way I can get new titles in stock besides direct buys from customers.

Speaking of which...

I just sold my last Nintendo Switch and I'm looking to get another PSP Fat from my supplier.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi. Well Spring has finally sprung and Spring Cleaning will soon be under way. I'm already doing mine by getting rid of junk while still accepting donations of used electronics.

Just look at all the desktop PCS, laptops and monitors that I have for sale. Videogame systems, too.

I'll take any electronic device in any condition (no live bugs, though) and I'll recycling it free of charge. The donations keep coming in and I always find new uses for stuff and there's people I give stuff any to, like my technicians as well as students looking for parts to build robots for their school robotics programmes.

So bring in your stuff and help out the community.

Hi. I'm writing to wish everybody a Happy Easter.

Have you noticed that the prices of processors, storage (SSDs and even HDDs) and memory have gone through the roof (again)? I've heard that it's due to the global chip shortage and AI data centres are buying all of them up.

I mean, this is the third time in my life and I've seen this happen. First it was the monsoon in Thailand back in 2011 that flooded Western Digital's plants and spare hard drives were nowhere to be found (the few that I came across were going for triple their usual price). Then came the cypto craze in 2021 that saw high-end graphics cards being sold out for Bitcoin mining (and the few available also being overpriced by scalpers) and now because of the AI boom, microchips are in short supply and a 960 GB SSD that went for $80.00 just a year or two ago is now going for $220.00.

At first I thought that this was why Nintendo was jacking up the prices on their games (even the titles that launched with the Switch), but since it's only the Mario, Zelda and Pokemon titles that are seeing a $10.00 increase and not the others, I'm chalking it up to simple greed.

Just a reminder that I'm still selling my Mario, Zelda and Pokemon Switch tiles for $80.00 tax included, instead of $90.00 plus tax everywhere else.

Hi. Business has been picking up a lot lately and I've made quite a few sales. People still drop in to sell their videogame collections and although most of it isn't much to write home about, I've found a few gems here and there that I'm willing to pay cash for.

I just picked up Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones for Game Boy Advance, making this the first time in over decade since I've had these titles in stock.

I've sold one Nintendo Switch to an elderly customer (much better for his wife's physiotherapy than a Wii or an XBOX Connect) and I'm in line to sell another Switch to a game collector.

Other than that, nothing to report.

Hi. Things were rough for a couple months but are going back to normal.

Unfortunately, my customer decided to sell his Hyrule edition New 3DS XL to someone else in exchange for a Switch 2. The games in his collection were mostly duplicates of titles I already have in stock, so it's no big deal.

Other than that, I still have two PS Vita Fats and a DS1 XL in stock, and I'll be working on restoring some DS Lites and PSPS, too.

Hi. It's march 10th today and I'm writing to wish everyone a Happy Mario Day.

I've still got the best deal in town for Mario titles on Switch, many of them discontinued and hard to find and all of them having gone up in price.

Why pay $90.00 plus tax for a game that launched with the Switch back in 2017 when it went for $80.00 plus tax, especially when I sell these games at $80.00 tax included.

Food for thought
