Ever wonder how a crown in the sky gets lit?

Rising 981 ft / 299 m over Manhattan’s West Side, 50 Hudson Yards ranks as the 19th tallest building in New York City. Designed by Foster + Partners, the 78-story skyscraper houses the offices of BlackRock and Meta.

On top of it, over 2,964 linear ft (904 m) of STR9® Color Changing washes and grazes the crown in two separate rows. Remarkably, only two (2) centralized 45kW INFINITY® Power Supply Towers power the entire crown installation. It also extends run lengths, enhances reliability, significantly lowers cable requirements and minimize façade penetrations.

Also built into the STR9® Series, COLOR-AMP® delivers up to 3x lumens at the same power, and UNIBODY® sealing technology ensures some of the best sealing capability in the market.

Almost a year since opening, the illuminated Keel Crossing has quickly become a part of Sunderland’s story, linking the city centre to the Stadium of Light.
 
Other than local excitement and industry recognition, the bridge is set to be a centerpiece of The Premier League match days, carrying Sunderland AFC AFC fans across the River Wear toward the match.
 
Powered by a centralized 15kW INFINITY® Power Supply System, it is another example of how GVA’s 380V DC technology transforms lighting for bridges in our built environment.

This arch stays incomplete until you touch it 👋
 
Monika Kalyani took us to the Unfinished Arch at Toronto’s Sherbourne Common, and the only way to “finish” it is to reach out and complete it yourself.
 
Go try it at Waterfront Toronto whenever you have a chance!

Some art isn’t complete until you show up 🎨

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s Unfinished Arch has recently been unveiled at Sherbourne Common, Toronto waterfront. It responds instantly to touch: reach out to its far edge, and the arch completes itself with light.
His first permanent public artwork in Canada, it stands 9 m / ~29.5 ft tall and cantilevers 14 m / ~46 ft from a single point in the ground.

About 100 STR10® Mono luminaires run the length of the structure, compact and powerful enough to disappear into its slender form. Powered by COLOR-STREAM®, our ultra-fast communication protocol, it delivers a liquid smooth reveal every time someone reaches out.
