Logo and label design for Mama Campos, Authentic Salsa Roja.

Salsa Roja is a vibrant and spicy condiment found on the table of every Mexican household. This client is bringing his Mother's recipe to the world later this year and wanted a brand to match the feeling you get when you add this sauce to any meal.

We first created two moodboards to ensure we were aligned on the overall direction then created two concepts for him to choose from. Once the logo and brand as a whole was refined and approved we moved on to the label design. Love it!

Here’s a fun brand project I just wrapped up with Old Oak Supply Co. (formerly ) that I’m so excited to finally share!

Key words for this small batch, handcrafted beard oil and men’s hair care products were vintage, speakeasy and warm. Think oak barrels and whiskey, velvet booths and a smokey bar. The goal was to create something vintage yet timeless that speaks to the refined bearded man without falling into the typical hipster trends. I feel like we nailed it!

For this project we did two moodbards to start, two logo concepts, secondary logos for supporting design and a brand guide.

It doesn't matter what your business is, one of the first things you should do when building your brand is to find your focus and who you should be trying to attract.

Finding your niche is all about finding what makes your business unique, who you want your clients to be, who you want to be selling to and ultimately how to talk to the market you want to be in. Finding your focus can streamline things and make sure you're not spreading yourself too thin or offering services that don't appeal to your market.

Make sure you are standing out from the competition and building trust as an expert in your field. Building a brand with consistent messaging starts with knowing your audience and what your business is all about.

The design industry is always evolving and changing, it can be hard to keep up with sometimes!

My transition from the corporate world to owning my own design business was an eye opener. There were so many things inspiring young designers were doing to bring real value to their design biz. Some of these just make so much sense and I'm so excited to have them implemented in my own business structure.

Hi! I'm Alix, the owner and graphic designer behind My Type Creative.

During my 13 years in the design industry, I've worked at a small boutique agency (which isn't so small anymore!) designing and building brands for local businesses, to a large multi-national corporation developing the look and feel as well as packaging for their 30+ products, with some freelance in between. From the graphic design, art direction and project management skills I've gained over these years, I felt it was time to take the leap and focus on building my own business full time.

Some facts about me:
