Another Red Deer District Chamber business of the year awards have come and gone - we were a finalist two years in a row but haven’t walked away with a win. As I sit here in my thoughts and emotions of tonight, I feel a mix of disappointment, gratitude and pride.
It’s incredible being recognized for your hard work, but it definitely discourages you to lose. Being a business owner comes with hardships I couldn’t truly understand until I was REALLY in it - I’m sure many of you know the feeling. There are days where I feel on top of the world, I feel so creative, I feel driven, and I feel the pride that my late parents would have for me… then, there are the days where you work through the long hours of the night, the days where you wonder if it’s all worth it, the moments where you feel like giving up.
This is the crazy thing though…I absolutely love all of it.
This business has absolutely beaten me down, but it has also brought me some of the most incredible memories of my life. It has given me clients that have turned into life long friends. It has taught me to rise when I fall. It has shown me that I can prove not only to myself, but to those who doubt me that I can make incredible things happen. It has given me the most incredible team I could ever ask for.
So regardless of an award, I have been left here to ponder on our journey and I am so grateful for everything that we have accomplished in such a short amount of time. Seeing businesses thrive with our help is the greatest award there will ever be. Grey marketing has a team, but our clients are a massive part of that team. We want to see you succeed just as bad as you do!
So tonight, I want to congratulate the winners of the awards - but more importantly, I want to thank our clients for choosing us. That’s the true award. ✨
