One of the more prevalent recent scams is fake calls from "Telus" offering to give you either a big rebate or to cut your monthly bill "in half". This is NOT Telus. They may sound somewhat professional or legit, but their goal is NOT to save you anything, it's to rip you off! DO NOT under ANY circumstances agree to download any remote login software or join a TeamViewer or any remote "support" session!
As much as I benefit from more work doing virus cleaning, I wish huge corporations such as TELUS would put out PSAs about this as it would reach FAR more people than me and other IT guys ever could, but please SHARE this as much as possible.

** UPDATE ON ONLINE AND PHONE SCAMS **

Many people continue to receive online and phone scams daily. They will use a local phone number to get you to answer.
Be aware that Microsoft will never call and have no way of knowing if you have viruses on your computer. It is the same for CRA or SIN calls. They won’t call unless requested by you.
Please be vigilant and DO NOT give out any personal information or allow any access to your computer by people claiming to be who they are not.
If you have doubts, it’s probably a scam and hang up.
Better safe than sorry .
