The Hallow is the transcendence of community wealth. It is an arts/recreational center and café that serves as a hub for community groups, families, and individuals. Community members can take part in a variety of inclusive arts, recreation and training programs in an environment that are set up to accommodate any organizations, community groups, school groups and individuals of all ages and abili
ties. These programs will be provided by members of the Hallow. The Hallow will work together with local artists (visual, dance, vocal, media arts, language, horticulture, pottery, etc.), community groups, and other creative facilitators and provide them with low-cost, accommodated/modified space to enable them to gain exposure, provide classes and experience teaching in their focus area. All facilitators working will be required to provide a current criminal record check with vulnerable sector search. We offer a unique approach to employment and training through an onsite café where employees can work (either in the café or assisting in curating of events) to earn an ongoing honorarium. The accumulated honorarium can be used to access free space for their future events, or other items they may need to enhance programming further through marketing and branding (posters, website, etc.).The Hallow will be able to support between 13-16 volunteers/day and provide up to 16 hours of free space/week. The availability of the work exchange is only available to individuals, and not organizations. The Hallow works with organizations who wish to secure space to determine a price point that works for their needs. Volunteer or community improvement programming will receive space at no cost (for example Alcoholics Anonymous, Youth groups, LBGTQ groups, Chess Club, etc.) The attached 'Starving Artists Cafe' sources as much product as possible from local food distributors, and also provides an opportunity for those who can’t afford to access space, such as students/other community members to gain employment and training. The Hallow's Café also displays local artwork on commission. A small number of arts/crafting items will be available for sale through the Hallow as well. Also, the spaces within The Hallow will be available to rent for events (birthdays, bachelorette parties, weddings, corporate events and meetings, etc.) to enrich the area with life and laughter; while offsetting the cost of providing free space to community groups.
