SEB TEAM #3 - SmartCane
The SmartCane is an assistive device for orientation and mobility for the visually impaired, blind and deafblind. It leverages advances in technology to positively impact the way these individuals live.
Simple in its design, the SmartCane is a white cane with added features to maximize user independence and safety. There is adjustable object detection on the cane which detects objects blocking a user’s path from knee-head level, as well as a light sensor to inform users of their surroundings. GPS navigation functionalities are in progress to direct a user to their destination through varying vibrations. An emergency button allows the individual to inform emergency personnel of their location and medical history when required.
