If you’re on the Gardiner this week look out for our out-of-home (billboard) work for POKKO!

With so many rave reviews, we picked the best one and used it.

Since ChatGPT is such a hot topic these days, out of curiosity, we did ask it to write over 100 billboard copy options. They were really bad. 2 or 3 were ok, but ultimately unusable.

We stand by our assessment that it’s a tool that is occasionally useful, and will become more useful with time, and no matter how much it advances, a rising tide raises all ships. Eventually we’ll have humans using AI because they have to compete against other humans using AI. Though that could change if it ceases to be open to the public, but that’s another story. For now we’ll stick with wetware for the big ideas.

Packaging / branding design for a unique new Toronto based vegan snack company.

They came to us after having tried several designs that missed the mark. We worked with them to develop a new brand and package that would appeal to health conscious shoppers looking for a snack in the rice / chickpea category as well as broad appeal for anyone looking for a tasty snack.

We played off the synesthesia of the unique sharp sounding name, striking taste and intense crunch, and pared down the colours to create a minimal but memorable, healthy but youthful design.

The simple white on one colour background is a subtle nod to authentic food truck designs of the past since this is a family business with a unique recipe that was passed down for generations.

We subtly put the shape of the product in the logo, and flanked the product shot with “sonic crunch triangles” that draw your eye to the centre, portray the crunch sound of the product (they’re REALLY crunchy), and give a subtle nod to tortilla chips. They aren’t tortilla chips, but they share enough qualities with them to warrant using this subtle psychological trigger.

It’s amazing what a couple of triangles can do.

They’re also crazy good and addictive. We quickly devoured all the samples POKKO dropped off.

They have an ingredient called Asafoetida, the ingredient that makes Indian food taste Indian. It also has many health benefits and is unique in the sense that it tastes great when cooked with properly but tastes and smells bad on its own. Which is why it’s also called “Devils Dung”.

They were just launched at a food conference out West and the product and packaging was a big hit. We can’t wait for POKKO to hit the shelves and see where this brand goes.

Our latest website redesign of SuperBra Netherlands.

SuperBra needed a clean, attractive, modern, responsive site, built into the Shopify CMS in a way that would give us and their employees the ability to easily update imagery and messaging in order to thrive during the ever changing circumstances of the pandemic and scale when the time comes.

In the last year we’ve become huge ambassadors of the no-code movement utilizing Webflow and Shopify etc. to give our clients the ability to be nimble and us the ability to spend more time on strategy and design and less on coding.

So while we think the site looks great, the ultimate goal was improving conversions which we succeeded in increasing substantially. Not that the site is finished. A website is never truly “complete”. We can’t wait to see how far SuperBra goes. We live and breath for strategizing new ways to scale the companies we work with.
