Kateri and I on behalf of InfoAnywhere are pleased to be attending and sponsoring the “Hospice Education Day 2022” hosted by the British Columbia Hospice Palliative Care Association, the Federation of Fraser Valley Hospice Societies and the Vancouver Island Federation of Hospices. We look forward to meeting face to face with the many people we have been working with over the past several years! Stop by and say hi!

Always happy to help and get great feedback!

This year we upgraded our patient records to be held electronically, and our experienced nurse Omega who has been with us for over 8 years, naturally took the helm to support her colleagues during this transition.

As the 'techie' of the team, Omega dove head first into learning the system as much as she could, before she was tasked to help her colleagues with the learning process.

"The new system has made charting and communicating with other staff easier and more straightforward. We are able to find vital information more quickly and efficiently. This allows the staff to spend more time at the bedside with our patients and their families which is one of the core values and goals of hospice and palliative care."

💬 What is the cost of hospice care?

The cost per day of a residential hospice bed is $460. This is much less than an acute-care hospital bed ($1,100) or a hospital palliative-care bed ( ($630-$770).

Happy National Hospice Palliative Care Week!

Every year, for the first week of May, the nation comes together to celebrate and share the achievements of hospice palliative care, as well as advocate for improved services in our communities.

We also take time to think about and remember the many individuals and families who have journeyed in hospice palliative care and we on those who matter most to us.

runs from May 2 - 8, 2021 and throughout the week we will be sharing more information on special events and ways you can get involved, so stay tuned!

The word "hospice" comes from hospes, a Latin word that means "host" or "guest"? Hospices are designed to be a welcoming place for rest, care, comfort, and compassion - that's why we say that heart is at the centre of palliative care.

A familiar face as the executive director of the new Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham Ltd. Opening soon in Port Perry.

It’s my father, Brent Farr who has been a leader in the community services sector for decades in Durham.

It’s great that we are both serving our community in Hospice!

Dr. Russell meets with our new Executive Director, Brent Farr.
