Hiring IT Technician - GTA
NVTech (https://www.nvtech.ca/) is expanding and we are looking for an on-site IT Technician. We are an IT Managed services provider operating out of the Greater Toronto Area. We manage and support the IT infrastructure for a variety of clients ranging from small professional offices to large multi-national businesses.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong willingness to learn and grow with our company, a positive, proactive attitude and good foundational technical skills. Your role as an IT technician would require you to work together with the rest of the NVTech team to resolve various support requests, onsite tasks and projects.
Some responsibilities include:
- Setting up new IT equipment (laptops, desktops, phones, etc.)
- Providing front line technical support (in person, over the phone, via email, or via remote support tools or virtual meetings)
- Installing equipment on-site and facilitating configuration
- Responding to various IT issues for Windows PC or MAC, installation of external devices, desktops, laptops, hardware diagnostic, maintenance, repairs and general software support, network, router, and wireless devices
- Overseeing troubleshooting for system errors, hardware and diverse software problems
- Maintaining existing user systems including pushing out upgrades, software, and security patches when needed
- Keeping senior team members updated with progress of assigned projects
- Writing or updating IT documentation as required
- Open to being mentored, participating in ongoing learning tasks and working collaboratively within a team
Skills and Work Experience we are looking for:
- Excellent interpersonal customer service skills and a friendly demeanor is a must.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Resourcefulness and great problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems (Windows 7, 8.1 and 10)
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals
- Ability to troubleshoot issues intuitively/proactively and take initiative accordingly
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects effectively
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- College Diploma or University Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience
- Professional experience with PC and MAC computers
- Experienced in supporting MS Office applications (Office 2003-2021) in a business environment
- Experienced in working in a Windows Domain network environments and various VPNs
- Experienced in supporting common business office devices, including printers, scanners, mobile devices, audio/video equipment, routers/network switches and miscellaneous peripheral accessories
Additional Details:
- You will be required to travel in-person to worksites/client locations – a reimbursement per kilometer driven will be provided
- When interacting with clients face-to-face, you will be representing NVTech so a positive attitude with a focus on building client relationships is equally as important as technical knowledge
- Our clients’ issues are often urgent and unexpected so a high degree of punctuality and reliability is regularly expected
- Work Hours will be the standard 9AM-5PM; however, the occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary
- Access to a reliable vehicle is a definite asset since travelling to worksites is an integral part of this position
