During our Virtual Showcase on Accessibility, a participant shared CNIB's 'Clear Print Accessibility Guidelines', and we're pleased to pass this helpful resource along to you.

It offers practical guidance for making printed materials as clear, readable, and accessible as possible.

As CNIB notes "Creating a barrier-free Canada means not only ensuring buildings and roadways are safe and accessible, but also ensuring that the way we communicate with one another is accessible."

From signs and brochures to websites and product packaging, accessible communication helps everyone participate more fully.

Wondering if you should reference AI use?

AI citation practices differ depending on which guidelines you use: APA Style, MLA Style or Chicago Manual of Style. Check out the infographic for a quick overview (Image created using Microsoft's Copilot).

See larger infographic: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oIXG_b-axEAnf_r6IBfoWUznKVJeakR4/view?usp=sharing

For transparency, you should consider citing generative AI whenever you quote, paraphrase, or incorporate text, images, or data created by it.

Generally you do not need a formal, academic-style citation (like APA or MLA) for social media posts, but transparency and disclosure are strongly recommended or required depending on the context.

It’s always good to check your organizational guidelines too.

September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Today, we honour Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities, while reflecting on the lasting impacts of Canada’s Residential School system.

The orange shirt serves as a powerful reminder of remembrance and the enduring truth: Every Child Matters.

Understanding the visuals:

- The Central Symbols: A feather (First Nations), a narwhal (Inuit), and a flower (Métis) come together in a flowing circular composition, honouring the distinct cultures and strong connections between these communities.

- The Moon & Stars: Honour the children who never returned home, symbolizing their eternal place in our thoughts and memory.

- Dotted Beadwork Patterns: Reflect the vital passing down of art, culture, and traditions through generations.

- Flowing Lines: Represent the deep connection between land, water, and generations, while reminding us that the journey toward reconciliation is an ongoing process.

Today and every day, we reflect, listen, and learn.
