🚀 Data Accuracy in real life 🚀
Handling regular data imports can be tricky:
a) Ensure incoming data quality.
b) Verify data processing accuracy.
c) Guarantee the quality of results.
To maintain quality, it’s recommended not to ignore these steps:
• Store “failed” data records filtered out during processing.
• Track data import stats: total imported, failed, and successfully processed records.
• Keep trend statistics for each import (graphs or tables).
🔍 Ignoring complexity of data processing quality assurance - can lead to surprises:
Toronto’s 2023 vacant home tax rollout caused chaos. Administrative errors and missed deadlines led to 176,000 homeowners being mistakenly billed, compared to just 11,000 vacant homes identified in 2022. The sudden spike in vacant homes hasn’t been explained.
Hundreds of confused citizens flooded civic centers, worried about huge bills. Staff had to work overtime, and the city’s 3-1-1 call center was overwhelmed.
