This Sunday, 1 November, the clocks in British Columbia stay where they are. B.C. is on permanent Pacific Time now, so your phone and your computer should simply carry on. Your copier might not.
Many office copiers and printers keep their own clock, with their own daylight saving setting, separate from your computers. If that setting is still switched on, the machine may set itself back an hour on Sunday morning, following the old rule.
It sounds small. The machine's clock stamps the time on every fax and on every scan file name, and it decides when the machine wakes up in the morning if it is set to. So on Monday a scan saved at 9:05 is filed as 8:05, and a machine meant to be ready for the first person through the door is still asleep.
It isn't to say every machine will do this. It is simply that it takes one minute to check: on Monday morning, compare the time on the copier's screen with your phone. If it is an hour behind, the daylight saving or summer time setting in its date and time menu needs switching off, and the time set right.
If you would like a hand with it, please feel free to call us and we will walk you through it on your model.
How many clocks in your office do you think will try to fall back this Sunday?
