We're entering the era of the Forward-Deployed Entrepreneur. Naval Ravikant said if you can build and sell, you're unstoppable, for most of history you could get away with one. That era just ended 👇🏾
Palantir figured out something about engineers that most entrepreneurs still haven't figured out about themselves
Instead of building software from a distance, they send engineers to sit inside the customers business and build next to the people with the problem
AI is now letting founders work the same way. I've been living it. A few days ago our AI agent at OutreachGenius booked an estimate for a painting company...
During the call, the homeowner mentioned she needed the work done the very next day
Normally that detail dies inside a call transcript. Nobody reads every transcript
But we'd connected an AI employee called viktor to our client campaigns. Viktor caught the urgency, emailed the painting company, and they landed a $5,700 job
Nobody on our team had to touch it. Same story with our trade show landing page
Instead of a long design and dev process, I built it myself with Claude and Framer by just speaking into my AI system (on my phone 😅)
The forward-deployed entrepreneur has three qualities
1. They know how to build
Not necessarily how to write code, but how to connect AI to the tools they already use and get from an idea to a working experiment without waiting months for someone else
2. They're relentlessly curious
When something doesn't make sense, they investigate. They try unfamiliar tools, break things, fix them, and are willing to be beginners again
3. They know how to sell.
They talk to customers, share what they're working on, and turn a problem into a prototype, a prototype into a pilot, and a pilot into a paying customer
The real advantage isn't that you can suddenly build anything. Its that you can cheaply test whether something is worth building at all, and when it doesn't work, change it and try again
You don't need to be the smartest person in the room or have a big team
You need to stay close to real problems, be willing to learn, and have the courage to put your ideas in front of customers.
