Calling all lacemakers! 🧵

Are there any lacemakers in the Annapolis Valley and surrounding areas?

I’ve been thinking about the possibility of starting a local lace guild and would love to see who’s out there! Whether you do Irish crochet, tatting, bobbin lace, needle lace, knitted lace, or another form of lacemaking, I’d love to connect.

The idea would be to bring together people who share an interest in lace, give us a chance to learn from one another, share our work, and keep these beautiful textile traditions alive.

If this is something you’d be interested in, please comment below or send me a message! I’d love to gauge interest and see what might be possible.

Two garments that took an absolutely unreasonable amount of time and a frankly questionable number of hours with a crochet hook and darning needle

The duster and the bomber… Both Irish crochet, both made by me, and both pieces I’m really really proud of.

It’s a strange thing to spend so much time making something with your own hands and then put it out into the world for everyone to see. But here we are.

Shot here in Wolfville, which made the whole thing feel a little extra special. The leaves did not disappoint.

Anyway, my name is Caitlin… I made these. And I think they’re pretty damn cool 😎

I get by with a little help from my *friends* 💨💨💨

It’s done. 🥹

The Irish crochet duster that has been living in my brain, on my floor, on my dress form, and occasionally in my nightmares for the last few months is FINALLY DONE.

Every motif was crocheted, woven, pinned, laced and assembled by me. The back panel nearly took me out. I decided I absolutely needed a hood when I was already very much in too deep. And somehow, here we are.

Also, yes, I am modeling an elaborate handmade Irish lace duster in sweatpants.

I could have changed.

I chose not to.

This is probably the biggest crochet project I’ve ever finished, and I’m equal parts relieved, exhausted and ridiculously proud of it.

Now I need to figure out what the hell I’m making next.
